Formosa: Famous Taiwan Food @ Kuchai Lama

Formosa Restaurant is basically the Taiwanese version of Esquire Kitchen. Since I haven't been to Taipei before, this restaurant serves as a starting point for me before trying out all the Taiwanese foodstuff!

Formosa is one of the good Taiwanese cuisine in town with reasonable price and good services. Its signature dish is the Taiwanese homemade meatballs, which I didn't get to try because meatballs are my least favourite food ever.

The classical set furniture are made of marble, wood and glass, which feel likes home. From the reflection on the mirror, you can see the modern long sofa which I'm sitting on. You may love the cooling, marbled one but I prefer a softer seat to enjoy my set of dinner.

#1 Braised Pork Rice @ RM 4.90
It's a dish of chef's recommendation which certainly worths the value of money with the semi-fat pork slices and a bowl of rice. Only for RM4.90, you can get a decent bowl of rice with meat; Where else can you find such a good bargain?

#2 Oyster Mee Suah @ RM 6.90
For me, it looks like a bowl of thick shark fin soup. The rich taste of seafood is absorbed by the soup and it makes a good aromatic dish here. Despite of that, the stench of oyster is too strong that I can't really enjoy the noodles. The downside of this dish however is, limited bowls are offered to customers each day. Since it's under chef's recommendation, do be early if you'd love to grab one :)

#3 Herbal Chicken Soup @ RM 7.90
When enjoying this bowl of soup, the satisfaction in me is revealed because it's served hot and rich in herbal flavours. This soup reminds me of Mama who always cook good, healthy broths.

  1. I've only tried the branches in Sungei Wang & Sunway Pyramid but I absolutely love it! Especially the rice with braised sauce!

  3. Food looks good...and cheap. We have one here - seems to be doing well...but I did not quite like what I had when I dropped by. Perhaps I should give it another go.
