Welcome to one of the cleanest beaches in Malaysia, Pantai Batu Burok, a famous stretch of white sandy beach in Kuala Terengganu, also known as the Beach of Ugly Stone!

From what you see on the above picture, it is not 'ugly' at all, in fact I love the picturesque scenery to the max! That's why I got all hyped up and excited over the upcoming first ever 6-star Terengganu Rip Curl Pro Surf Contest 2012 held at the coastal of this beautiful beach!
Sanctioned by the Asian Surfing Championship (ASC), the surf event is a collaboration between the renowned Australia surf brand, Rip Curl (Malaysia) and the State Government of Terengganu.
During this 3-days event, I am eager to meet surfers from different regions of South East Asia who will compete in 5 different divisions – Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Master Division and Bodyboard Open, and Longboard Open. There are total estimated over RM 40,000 worth of prizes up for grabs for the participant’s surfers.

This event was officially launched in One Utama last week, and I was overjoyed to hear that the championship is not only for the surfers! There will also be several fun-filled yet educational activities for the public (me! lol).

Not only I will get to meet the Indonesia top surfboard artist, Mr. Rizald from Bali during the Surfboard Art Exhibition, I guess I am more curious about the live demonstration of the overall actual process on making a surfboard. A surf clinic will be set-up for public to experience and learn how to surf, conducted by Jonni Morrison – Deaker, from the Rip Curl Bali Surf School.

Throughout the International surf event, Rip Curl sets to craft Malaysia as one of the surfing destination amongst the professional surfers from different regions and also to attract more people to experience surfing. Most importantly it will provide local Malaysian surfers an opportunity to gain experience in competing at an International level.
The Terengganu Rip Curl Pro 2012 is organized by EC Extreme Resources supported by S.U.K Terengganu, Tourism Malaysia, Ministry of Tourism Terengganu and Rip Curl Bali Surf School.

During the press conference, Rip Curl (Malaysia) announced an official 1-year Official Rip Curl Malaysia Riders deal with two top Malaysian surfers – Brenda Lee and Bryan Ng.
You Make Us Proud! - Brenda Lee, top lady surfer in Malaysia
She proves that surfing is not an all-men sports, but ladies, too, can excel in this! I believe both top surfers will achieve a higher level along with Rip Curl Malaysia, that's what we call our spirit of Malaysia Boleh! Therefore, the first 6-star pro surf event is organized as a setting point towards the growth of surfing sports in Malaysia.
Young Talent - Mohd Suhaimi (Semmy)
On the same day itself, Rip Curl Malaysia was also renewing the official rider contracts for 17-year old young surfer from Cherating, Semmy.
