Weekend Hi-Tea Buffet @ Swez Braserrie, Eastin Hotel Petaling Jaya

Nothing brings family and friends together like great food. As we gather around to have a sumptuous feast during a relaxing weekend, pleasurable times beckon. The latest promotion at Swez Brasserie, the all-day dining restaurant at Eastin Hotel PJ features the weekend hi-tea buffet themed "Street Bazaar and Malaysian Heritage Specials."

The highlights are colorful flavours of Malaysia from all the states in the country, as well as international hawker delights. Here you can enjoy splendid street bazaar selections on Saturdays and Malaysian heritage selections on Sundays. In fact, the self-service buffet concept here gives diners myriad choices to feast to their heart's content.

Authentic Malay Cuisine
Salmon Fish Head Curry

The salmon fish head curry is one of the most sought-after dish among the curry lovers. The fish is deeply infused with the rich coconut milk while retaining its fresh flavours. Thumbs up to the curry, with good ratio of sweet spiciness.

Rendang Daging

Ayam Goreng Berempah (Spiced Fried Chicken)

Satar (Fish cake wrapped in banana leaf)

Nasi Briyani

The fragrant Briyani rice is among the home-style specialities that will invariably score with local diners. The fluffy rice was good to go on its own, but best savoured with the equally rich gravy and other hawker delights.

An obligatory Malaysian dish, Nasi Lemak

Northern favourites: Pasembur and Tauhu Sunbat (Stuffed Beancurd)

Noodle Station: Curry Laksa, Char Kuey Teow and Mee Sup Utara

I saw more comfort food coming my way, as I passed by the live cooking stations that feature laksa and northern soup noodles where you can choose your favourite noodles, soup base and condiments.

Thai Delight: Chicken in Pandanus Leaves

Indian Corner: Tandoori, Masala and Naan Bread

Chinese Delight: Sesame Chicken

One of the live cooking stations offers Yong Tau Fu

Allowing diners to savor freshly-made food, a variety of action stalls are lined up along the buffet spread, featuring Keropok Lekor, fritters, Kacang Kuda Rebus, Chicken Teriyaki Kebabs, satay, Korean pancakes, Yong Tau Foo, Lok-lok with condiments and more.

Chicken Teriyaki Kebabs

Teochew white porridge with century egg, salted egg and condiments

Western Corner

Grilled Sea Bass

Traditional Seafood Pie

I kid you not the seafood pie was really delicious and I couldn't resist going for a second helping although I was stuffed by then. Beyond the crispy puff pastry lid lies fish, prawn and other seafood in a creamy sauce. So rich in seafood goodness, it was definitely a crowd-pleaser!

Chicken Floss Buns

At the appetizer counter, there are famous local fare such as rojak, tauhu bakar, cuttle fish and kangkong, assorted kerabu, turkey poppy seed roll with cranberry chutney, egg and black pepper croissant, club sandwiches and salad.

Italian's Favourite: Frittata (Egg-based crustless quiche filled with vegetables)

Japanese Corner: Vegetable Sukiyaki--- Great choice for the health-conscious!

Assorted Maki Sushi

With over 50 varieties of local and Western favourites on the buffet line, the only limit here is the size of one's appetite. How I'd wish to try all the yummy delights there.

Assorted Tropical Fruits

Desserts
Bread Pudding with Raisins

Over at the buffet counters, one finds dainty treats for the sweet tooth, whose line up of desserts include cupcakes, assorted whole cakes, pudding and brownies. The dessert section also offers a chocolate fountain with marshmallows for dipping, as well as half a dozen flavours of ice cream.  Not forgetting to mention the classic fried ice cream which I love so much when I was a kid!

  1. I have no idea what they are offering here in Penang though, we are normally invited to sample their up coming month's themed buffet dishes only, no idea about their other themed buffets >_<
