Pocket WiFi for Overseas Trip

Whenever we travel overseas, connectivity is ALWAYS an issue because we want to:
1) Keep updating our fun pictures on Facebook/ Instagram/ etc
2) Whatsapp/ LINE/ WeChat with people we love
3) Google map at foreign places
4) Simply just can't live without internet

But....it is not easy to get free WiFi everywhere we go except for restaurants/ hotels.
Usually my only internet choices are:

1) Buy new local sim at the country and subscribe to expensive data plan
2) Use internet roaming by my local telco provider (Even more expensive!)
3) Disconnect myself and enjoy the trip (I can hardly do that!)
Until recently I learn about Pocket WiFi by Samurai WiFi and absolutely love its service! Fit perfectly onto the palm, it is a portable modem where you can switch on and connect up to TEN (10) devices at one go while travelling overseas!

1. CHEAP! Daily rate is only from RM25/day!
2. It doesn't fail you like the data roaming services or local internet! What's better than staying connected 24/7?
3. ONE flat price for all devices! Your iPhone, iPad, MacBook, and 7 more gadgets can connect to one same Pocket WiFi via hotspot sharing. Travelling with friends? Even better! If you divide the bill with 4 persons, each person only pays RM5 for WiFi daily!
4. Hassle-free! Pick up at KLIA before boarding the plane, and drop off when you return. Easy pessy!
5. Super fast connection up to 1GB per day. So awesome right?
6. Full refund if service fails. (But it hardly happens, haha!)

Let's take an example:

If I were in Japan for 2 weeks, I can rent a Pocket WiFi as low as at RM28 per day. Share the bill with my travelling partners (up to 10 pax in total) and I only need to pay RM2.80 daily! Gosh, it is even cheaper than my current local mobile data subscription!

SO AFFORDABLE!

On top of Pocket WiFi rental, you can rent winterwear for free too! Now you don't need to spend a fortune on winter coats that you wouldn't use it again. Specially for those visiting Japan, apartment accommodations on Samurai WiFi site too, so don't worry about having no place to stay there!

Review: KIEHL'S Ultra Facial Cleanser, Toner, Cream

It has been a while since my last beauty shopping ♥ Since KIEHLS is having an awesome promotion now for students, I'm more than happy to stock up some skincare for myself and Mum :D

Each set consists of 2 full sizes, and you will get 2 deluxe samples for FREE. For example:

Set 1:

+ Toner (Complimentary Deluxe Sample) + UV (Complimentary Deluxe Sample)

Set 2:
Ultra Facial Cream/ Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream (Full size) + Toner (Full Size)
+ Cleanser (Complimentary Deluxe Sample) + UV (Complimentary Deluxe Sample)

Additionally, KIEHL's is having a weekday student special promo: Just flash your student card on a WEEKDAY (Mon-Fri) and you'll receive an ADDITIONAL deluxe sample if you purchase any of the Hydration Starter Kit.

You can read about my review on Ultra Facial Oil-Free Range HERE #1
and the Calendula Soothing and Toning Range HERE #2

If you do not know which product suits your skin the most, expert consultants are always there to assist you :) Plus, at the end of the consultations, you will get complimentary samples for you to try before making your purchase there. SO GOOD right?

Be prepared to be spoilt with choices! The skin care alone already has loads of ranges from oily skin and anti-aging to hydration and special care range. On the display racks, I notice alot of hair care, body care and fragrances too!

During my visit, I wanted to try a different range for my skin, but not sure which is better. So the first thing that the consultant did for me was the skin oiliness check--- Just to see whether my skin is dry, oily or combination.

And she allowed me to try on almost every product in the store!

I found what my skin really needs! Check out what I've got later in this blog post....

But how about if you try everything yet nothing suits you? Well, you can always walk out from the store without purchasing anything :) Try the samples at home, and come back if you really love them!

What I love about KIEHL'S is its fabulous customer service--- No forced purchase, because customers who trust KIEHL'S will definitely be back for more

Step 1: KIEHL'S Ultra Facial Cleanser (150ml)

I got myself the 3-step Ultra Facial range--- Cleanser, Toner and Cream ♥ First is the gentle liquid cleanser that I have been using since a month ago, and the tube is still full as if it is brand new! I bet it can last me for 6 months!

Effective and gentle, it has a very thick gel-like texture and does not form as much bubbles as other cleansers do. But it does a great job in deeply cleansing away even the stubborn makeup, without overdrying the skin. My skin becomes less irritable and stays moisturized.

 Step 2: KIEHL'S Ultra Facial Toner (250ml)

After cleansing, applying gentle toner is equally important to balance, hydrate and comfort the skin. Specially catered for normal to dry skin, the toner is mild and moisturizing as it is packed with natural sweet almond oil, apricot oil and avocado oil.

Unlike the toners from KIEHL'S other skin care range, this one has a thicker texture that feels like whitish emulsion. Therefore it is not as lightweight as I'd expect, but it feels slightly moisturizing to the skin. Just spread lightly over the skin, especially for oily skin under Malaysia's humid weather!

Step 3: KIEHL'S Ultra Facial Cream (50ml) or
KIEHL'S Ultra Facial Cream with Intense Hydration

Lastly, always remember to pamper your skin with a 'protective layer'--- KIEHL'S most popular Ultra Facial Cream is famed for its 24-hour hydration. If your skin is drier than usual, then do opt for the one on right--- Ultra Facial Cream Intense Hydration--- for deeper penetration of moisture.

Honestly I don't have good feeling about "cream" because it usually turns out greasy, heavy and clogs my pores. But surprisingly, KIEHL's is so lightweight that it can easily be absorbed into the skin without leaving any sticky residue at all!

A little from the tiny jar can go a long way :) A light and thin layer is sufficient to give you great hydration, and I love using it to protect my skin before putting on makeups.

Overall, the Ultra Facial range is suitable for my dry and oily skin  My favourite product is the Ultra Facial Cream because of its great hydration benefits and oil-minimizing feature. The entire range is free from fragrance, which is exactly what I want. And I can use them as day skin care under makeup and night regime before bed.

If you happen to purchase KIEHL'S products and find them not suitable for you, you're lucky because KIEHL'S has a 100% satisfaction and money-back guarantee policy for customers, within 28 days of purchase!
Verdict:
1. How often do you get affordable skincare that really works? It is rare, but KIEHL'S indeed promises good results at great value!
2. If you have dry to oily skin, the Ultra Facial range will work wonders. Hopefully I can see the result of better moisture on the skin soon!
3. Efficacious skin care and pocket-friendly! Repurchase? Of course!

Review: Hydra Vegetal Intense Hydrating Mask by Yves Rocher

Combating the hot and dry weather during this festive season, I'm glad to have the newly launched Hydration Mask-- Hydra Vegetal Intense Hydrating Mask from Yves Rocher to protect my skin from drying and aging.

The common face mask I see either comes in sheets, or in jars / containers. But this spa-facial mask is rather unique as it is packaged in a tube like the hand creams I have. It is therefore more hygienic as the content will not be exposed to the air each time I use it.

Hydra Vegetal Intense Hydrating Mask (75 ml) @ RM56

Yves Rocher, deemed as No.1 Skin Care in France, is always famed for its Botanical Beauty Innovation, and this round the new mask is formulated using the botanical sap of the Maple tree for its water-capturing capacity.

Not only it is able to penetrate deeply through the various layers of the epidermis to guarantee deep hydration. it also serves as a breathable barrier protection on skin. The skin is immediately moisturized with an intense and long-lasting hydration result, so you can really feel your skin becomes revived and more luminous!

Texture wise, the lotion-like cream is very lightweight and easy to spread on skin and cover all corners and surface of the face. It is so easy to use that you can just slap on a thin layer of the mask and wipe off the excess using cotton wool pad.

I personally love the quick absorption of the active ingredients, and it doesn't leave sticky feeling on skin. After spreading it evenly over the skin, it is fully absorbed and leaves no residue after 5 minutes. The instantaneous effect is visible as the skin becomes more supple and replenished, as if plumped up from within.

Within the 5 minutes mask time, I can easily do anything I want (like basic manicure!) while leaving it on the skin.

Here are some items under Hydra Vegetal range which you may be interested in, if hydration is your main concern :)

Verdict:
#1 Love the lightweight texture and ease of use that makes this beauty ritual more convenient and efficient!
#2 In just 5 minutes, the hydrating mask does a really good job! The skin becomes more supple and replenished, as if plumped up from within.
#3 Rating: 5/5 ♥ Repurchase? Yes! It's retailing at only RM56, definitely a great steal.

Now available at all Yves Rocher outlets nationwide. Don't forget to check it out!

Fa-Ying by Rama V @ Paradigm Mall, Kelana Jaya

Fa-Ying by Rama V may have been around for a couple of years, but the name is not one unheard of. Conveniently located at the family favourite Paradigm Mall, the restaurant is separated from the main building of the mall and is accessible via the entrance above the concierge counter.

Stepping in, discover an eclectic treasure trove of Thai vintage carvings lining the wall of the main dining area. Those who would love to chill out after a long day at work may opt for high stool seating by the bar.

 ICE POPS!
Iced Thai Milk Tea Pops @ RM13

There we go for the star of the evening! What's interesting about the ice pops beverages is the flavoured ice cubes that allow you to enjoy the consistent taste of the drinks until the very last sip. Just pour in the chilled milk into the glass of brown sugar and allow the Thai tea ice cubes to melt away. You'd be surprised with the trio combination!

Iced Lemongrass Basil Pops @ RM15

Perfect as a thirst quencher among the Thais, the lemongrass cooler is equally interesting
as the soda blends well with ice cubes of lemongrass.

 TAPAS
Neur Dadt Deow @ RM18
Deep-fried sun-dried marinated beef tenderloin strips served with Thai chilli sauce

Any outstanding Thai restaurant should take pride in crafting authentic Thai flavours, but the Thai chefs in Fa-Ying goes beyond the traditional way and injects modern interpretation to the dishes. Its menu items emphasize communal dining, where dishes such as Tapas and Thai BBQ Skewers can be shared among friends, along with wine.

Classic tapas such as the beef tenderloin strips is the perfect dish to kickstart your meal. A favourite among the Spanish, here you can enjoy the light nibbles with a kick of spiciness from the sweet spicy Thai chilli sauce.

Salmon Lom Kuan @ RM18
Salmon in Manow Sauce

It is uncommon to find salmon on the menu of a Thai eatery, hence we are excited to see how Fa-Ying serves it in the Thai style. Fresh salmon seasoned with lime and spices which make up the tangy Manow sauce, is a refreshing option for those who are more health conscious.

THAI BBQ SKEWER
Gai Sate @ RM12
Thai Grilled Chicken (3 sticks)

A popular street food in Thailand, the barbecued skewer option is aplenty in the menu ranging from beef to tofu. The strong aroma of Asian spices whet our appetite as soon as this dish arrives at our table! We love the excellent marinade that allows the lean meat to be well-suffused with sweet curry flavours and double our enjoyment when pairing it with the tangy dipping sauce.

 SALAD
Yam Neur Yang A-ngoon @ RM23
Grilled beef tenderloin salad with grapes and mint-chilli-lime dressing

A welcoming change from the crowd's favourite Thai mango salad, we are served with another exotic dish-- the well-done beef tenderloin served on a bed of seedless grapes and vegetable salad. Sweet, savoury and citrusy, all at once, a complex and charming blend of flavours and textures that glue diners to the seats.

PASTA
Fettuccini Gaeng Paed Ped Yang Sai Linchee @ RM22
Fettuccini with roasted duck curry lychee

We agree that the spiciness of Thai red curry, sweetness of lychees and the saltiness of roasted duck combine as a perfectly comforting hot dish, but have you ever tried the pasta version of it? The al dente pasta is so well-coated with creamy red curry gravy that may be a tad overwhelming for some. The duck breast is tender and juicy, which is a pleasant surprise, since breast meat is usually rather dry.

FA-YING SIGNATURE MAINS
Gai Tacos @ RM22
Thai BBQ chicken tacos served with special Thai sauce, avocado and somtam

For the signature mains, the chicken tacos will satisfy your carnivorous cravings. I personally feel that the Beef Tacos (RM25) would be a better choice when sipping on icy cold beer. Served along with deep-fried vegetables and raw papaya salad, the tacos are good to go with both sweet plum Thai chilli sauce and mint avocado mayo.

Pad Cod Yang Rad Sod Manow @ RM48
Grilled cod with grilled vegetables in manow sauce

If beef isn't your thing, the grilled cod sitting on a bed of brinjal, capcisum and baby tomatoes will be a safe option. The cod is beautifully done, pairing well with the sour and spicy manow sauce and it is still soft on the inside and not overcooked.

Apart from featuring classic Thai fare, other inventive creations on the menu include a range of burgers, pasta and sandwiches. Here it ensures every diner experiences enchantment when taking a culinary journey from Old Siam to Modern Bangkok.

Some noteworthy dishes that worth a try include Thai crab cake burger, beef sandwich in Nam Tok style, Pineapple Fried Rice served in pretty pineapple shell, well just to name a few :)

DESSERTS
Khao Niaw Ma Muang @ RM12
Mango sticky rice

End off on a sweet note with the classic Thai dessert, the homemade mango sticky rice served with a separate shot of coconut milk. The coconut cream possesses a good amount of salty sweetness to cut through the warm glutinous rice, and provides a satisfying finale to the meal. We are delighted that the fried salty mung bean topping also gives the dessert a nice crunch.

Thab Tim Krob @ RM6
Water chestnut with coconut milk

A simple concoction of ruby red jellies floating in a pool of sweet, cold coconut milk with ice shaves and jackfruit. I'd appreciate if it is added with some transparent sago to give a better texture to this bland dessert.

Tiramisu from Just Heavenly

Not a fan of Thai desserts? Premium cakes from Just Heavenly are available here too, including Red Velvet, Tiramisu and Butterscotch Cake. Anyone looking for a jolly good time would take interest in Fa-Ying's daily happy hour promotions for the selection of cocktails and beers in the house.

Verdict:
1. Overall, the ambiance is great for a casual night chill-out. Love the idea of nibbling on Thai-style tapas and BBQ skewers while downing jugs of cocktails and beers.
2. Recommended: Thai Tapas, BBQ Skeweres, Fettuccini with roasted duck curry lychee, Ice pops
3. Pricewise, it falls within the mid range, but I don't mind dropping by if I feel like having Thai while my dining partner may prefer something more westernized.
