How Much Does A Good Kayak Cost?

Kayaking is one of the most fun-loving activities you can do in every summer season.
It is a perfect way to spend an enjoyable day out on the water.

Kayaking is also an excellent means of exercise. Kayaks are the small narrow boats that run without motors, unless of course you have a motorized kayak. They get to move by using paddles. The seating area of a kayak can easily fit one to two people, as it is referred to as the cockpit.

Kayaks indeed give you endless fun all summer long. But the problem is that it's quite expensive to buy. You should expect to spend huge money lies between $150 to $600 for a single kayak. Before buying a good kayak, you should always consider the following things:
  • Tracking
  • Comfort
  • Speed
  • Fishability
  • Stability
  • Budget
  • Weight
So, you only need to decide what you are going to use it for? Is it for a recreational paddle, a kayak camp, nature photography, or are you going to kayak fish?

Fishing kayaks are quite expensive, but they typically offer more stability and comfort. However, the recreational kayaks offer good stability but have fewer creature comforts. An average good kayak from Dick's Sporting Goods cost for $388 to $200.50 on Amazon. However, the price of your kayak will be going to fluctuate depending upon the durability, the material it is made from, and the number of people it can hold.

How Much Does A Good Kayak Cost?

This question brings us to the cost. How much money do you have to spend on your new kayak? Different kayaks have different prices.

The cost of a beginner kayak lies in between $200 to $350. While an inflatable kayak cost only $100. This kayak is one of the cheapest ones that can be a good source of your summer entertainment. These inflatable models are specially designed for the beginners who plan to do nothing but just want it for fun.

Plastic kayaks are another reasonable option for kayak lovers. They are of good cost and can run roughly on par with inflatables. These kayaks are often more durable but can get damaged easily.

Readers, if you have got a large budget, or planning to use the kayak in rough waters, my suggestion is that you should need to consider a sea kayak for this purpose.

No doubt that these kayaks are much costly but are extremely strong and light-weighted. It has additional features and storage space, such as the adjustable seating system.

The fiberglass kayaks, however, cost about $150 on average. Kayaks come with a myriad of options and accessories varying different price ranges. It's you who need to decide which kayak is suitable for you.

Conclusion

Out on the water in your kayak is a beautiful way to spend your weekend. But before you head out, it is mandatory to think that for which purpose you are going to use your kayak. Kayaks are of different types and costs. Decide which one is a perfect option for you.

How to Carry the Kayak on Travel - Let's Know Several Transporting Options

I recall that few years back, I became quite interested in kayaking. It appeared to me that it is a fantastic outdoor adventure out in the water. I saw some documentary on kayaking on television. I was amazed at how kayakers enjoy a scenic view of nature while paddling a kayak along the shoreline. Such sightseeing is not possible from shore. Long story short. I decided to embark on a kayaking trip.

But the problem is there is no waterway close to my home. It means I needed to carry the watercraft to a lake which is hundreds of miles away from my property. So, how do I carry it there? I found several useful techniques regarding carrying a kayak at a distance on the internet. I have compiled these ideas and let me share with you so that you may find one of the transportation options suitable for you if you also want to transport a kayak ever.

Options to transport kayaks

Inflatable Kayaks
If you don’t like any hassle at all, an inflatable kayak is a good option for you when it comes to transporting a kayak. You can simply carry it in your car trunk. The only difficulty is perhaps inflating it after reaching the destination. But, I anticipate it is not a big deal that is inflating an inflatable kayak.

Different types of pumps like foot pumps, hand pumps, electric pumps out there to inflate an inflatable kayak. Pick a pump that you find easy to use for you and pack it with the kayak. Below are some brands that you might consider

- Advanced Elements
- Airhead
- Aquaglide
- NRS
- Sea Eagle
- Sevylor

However, in my case, I didn’t purchase an inflatable kayak.

Kayak Roof Racks
I applied this transporting option. I found a kayak roof rack that is highly convenient for me to transport my kayak anywhere I like. It’s a stylish way to transport your watercraft with ease and safety. It’s also peach in mind that you are carrying the most essential thing of your trip undamaged. Think about the situation. After reaching the destination if you find that any part of the kayak like its deck, hull, paddle, or cockpit is severely damaged rendering it useless, your kayaking trip needs to be called off. Like inflatable kayaks, there are several high-quality kayak roof racks available in the market.

I personally used Malone downloader folding carrier. I picked the kayak roof rack from the site that I have mentioned just now. I chose the model because it requires little effort to attach and secure the kayak with my vehicle. The roof rack comes with a hardwired boarding ramp which lets me loading and unloading the kayak without calling anybody for help. The kayak roof rack will also ensure that your kayak will stay in place no matter the condition of the road you are traveling.

Kayak Trailer
Kayak trailers are also a good transporting option. They let you transport a kayak at waist height. They also offer easy loading and unloading of the boat. Another advantage of using a kayak trailer is some models of kayak trailers let people transport multiple kayaks in one go. Kayak trailers like Malone kayak trailers and Yakima kayak trailers are widely popular. The only problem with kayak trailers is that they are expensive. But, if you have bucks, like kayak roof racks, kayak trailers are also fantastic kayak transporting options.

Transporting Kayaks in an Affordable Way
If you have no budget at all to purchase a kayak roof rack or a trailer, that’s not a big issue. Believe it or not, you have still a way out. Though not a convenient way, but you can still carry your kayak by strapping it with a car roof rack. Place a cloth on the car top before tying down a kayak on your cartop to protect your vehicle from scrapping. Another thing checks with your state’s law regarding boat transportation on car top. Tie-down a kayak on car top is the most budget-friendly way to transport a kayak.

Converting a Boat Trailer Into a Kayak Trailer
It is a DIY process to transport a kayak. Modify a boar trailer to a custom made kayak trailer. Since it’s a DIY process, a custom-built kayak tailor is far less inexpensive than purchasing a kayak trailer. For a DIY project like this what you need to do purchasing a boat trailer with high loading capacity, some steel nuts, bolts, paint, and pipe. Boat trailers come with tiny tires. To replace original tires with lug tires and wheels. Finally, you needed to purchase a cargo box as well to complete building a custom kayak trailer. The total cost of this DIY project will be not more than $600.

Fun Ways to Battle Summer Heat Wave

More than ever before, heat waves are becoming a common phenomenon. This has become a worrying trend but then again, you can only do so much about the situation. A lot has been said about the things you need to be doing during a heatwave, how you need to be doing them, and the best ways to stay protected. But it seems that very little has been told about fun things one can do during a heatwave.

Come rain or high waters, having fun is a part of life. Hey, they say that if life hands you lemons, you might as well ask it for glass, water, and sugar. There are no manuals or restrictions on having fun. Life is too short whether you’re going through a heatwave or a cold wave. Don’t mind the optimism twisted in a bit of humor, it’s just the way it is. But the question is, where would you rather be during a heatwave? Having fun right? There you have it! Below are fun ways to battle the summer heat wave.

1. Staying Cool

Of course, this is a no brainer but how you stay cool will make all the difference. During particular heatwaves, the temperatures may get really hot, causing you to feel overly exhausted, confused, and very thirsty. While hydrating yourself may help quench your thirst, you’ll need to do more than just drink water. The guys at Dream Scoops recommend introducing something chilly like ice cream to your system. This will not only provide you with cooling, the nutrients in the ice cream will also help provide you with the energy you need to fight off exhaustion.

2. Dressing for Outdoor Fun

Staying cool is all about tricking the mind into thinking that it’s not as hot as it may seem to be. Find clothes that are a reflection of coolness. The colors you choose for your clothes will make a huge difference in helping you stay cool and remain focused on staying cool. While you may not be for the idea of staying indoors, you’ll in the same manner not like it to rock the beach with your dark-colored hues.

If you’re outdoors having some summer fun with your buddies at the beach during a heatwave, don’t leave the house without your linen and cotton beachwear. Also, don’t forget your sunscreen while at it. The beach is a perfect place to be during a heatwave. You may also decide to go on a picnic in a park that is well covered with trees and other vegetation.

3. Host a Pool Party

While swimming pools have become a bit overrated, it’s the activities that you decide to participate in and around the pool that will spice things up. A pool party doesn’t have to be at night. This is because you still want your kids and everyone else to have fun.

Hey, did you know that you can actually host a pool party without an existing pool? It’s everyone’s dream to have a pool in their backyard. But for some, this dream can seem a bit far-fetched, especially considering issues such as the space you have in your backyard. But this doesn’t mean that you can’t have a pool party in your backyard during a heatwave. Here’s how and what you require:

  • Create a lively pool atmosphere – You’ll need to have a few beach balls, set up refreshing stands, and install market umbrellas in your backyard
  • Invest in misting outdoor umbrellas
  • Get everyone water pooled with water balloon slingshots
  • Ever heard of super soaker water guns? These can be a great addition to your heatwave fun activities.

4. What’s For the Kids Can Work for Adults As Well!

There’s a good reason they invented water beds for the kids and left the grownups guessing. Those squishy plastic orbs can be a great way to have fun and stay cool during a heatwave. Whether it means taking turns with your kids on the waterbeds or ultimately sending them ice skating while you remain at home with your spouse having the time of your lives, so be it! There are endless possibilities when it comes to owning a water bed. With waterbeds, the longer they’re left with water, the bigger, squishy, and bouncy they become. Actually, the bigger the better. The whole family can still have fun after all!

Typically, heat waves are just another hotter version of summer. Whatever you would do on a hot summer day, do it during a heatwave but always remember that, it’s during a heatwave that the sun’s rays are more hazardous. If you decide to spend your time outdoors, ensure you have your sunscreen on and most importantly, stay hydrated!

Who love shopping at AEON? I am sure that AEON is no stranger to us when it comes to grocery shopping, but do you know that AEON sells more than just fresh and high quality groceries?

Recently AEON has upped the game by revamping its outlets across Malaysia so that consumers can experience a new, improved shopping lifestyle in AEON. Knowing that AEON Bandar Sunway has gone through some major renovation in its 4-floor supermarket since a couple of months ago, I finally make a visit there and I am totally blown by its "new look".
