HONDA All-New City Bloggers' Drive

When Honda Malaysia offered me an one-day ride in its All-New City, I got really excited to experience the bestselling sedan among the Honda car range, along with a series of challenging and fun water sport activities arranged for us. So we were gathered at Rail Canteen, Sunway Nexis for a short briefing before starting off our convoy of the day.

Honda City is well-known for its Style, Specifications, Saving, Safety and Space, but not many actually realise that the City is the model that one should own before moving on the other range. Be it fresh graduates, working men, family or even the elderly, Honda suits each and every need of consumers with different features.

Before hopping onto our respective cars, let's get to know more about the City first. Speaking of performance, Honda City offers you its best as it is equipped with an enhanced 1.5L i-VTEC engine with Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) where better acceleration and fuel saving can be enjoyed at the same time.

Fuel efficiency is not just about the engine. ECON Button™ is available where you can switch into a super efficient mode that activates the Ecological Drive Assist System (Eco Assist™)  to take full advantage of the fuel efficiency potential of the City. You'd find this extra useful if you spend most of the time travelling on the road.

Top: Push Start button for easy ignition, Smart Entry button,
Bottom: Sporty Aerodynamic design, Attractive Dashboard

Design and specification wise, I personally find that this Honda City has an impressive list of standard features which are rarely found in other competitors of this class. From the outside we can enjoy the stylishness, while on the inside we are pampered with ultimate comfort and user-friendly buttons on the Multi-Functioning Steering Wheel. that includes Steering Wheel Hands Free Telephone Control and Steering Wheel Voice Recognition Control.

Other features such as Multi Information Combination Meter, Rear Ventilation Air Conditioning, 2 USB Jacks, 3 Power Sockets, 8 Cup Holders and smart storage compartments are also worth mentioning if convenience is your concern.

Now let's get started! I was the first driver of the day, with Sharon and Shini being my passengers.

During our journey, we could easily pick our favourite music in just one touch on the smartphone-style apps displayed on the 7-inch Touchscreen, and enjoy the tunes in a high quality 8-Speaker Audio System in the car.

After a smooth and enjoyable ride, we were here at Marina Putrajaya for water sport activities! Being a first timer here, it was such a surprise to see a beautiful lake overlooking the Putrajaya bridge. Truly a hidden gem for aqua lovers.

Apart from recreational activities such as cruising, canoeing, kayak, tubing, parasailing and more, Flyboard Malaysia allowed us to have an exciting water-propelling flying adventure where we enjoyed the thrills of being in both the air and water.

Flyboarding - 20 minutes per session

I have seen this aquatic extreme sports in various travel shows, but experiencing the real one by myself is like a dream! We had certified trainers showing us how to propel from the water into the air before we rode on the flyboard. It looked easy, but in fact quite challenging especially when one needed to achieve a balance in the air.

Next was the Stand Up Paddling, which was a more relaxing yet fun way to play on the water,
and to take loads of selfies in the middle of the lake :P

Another adventurous part of the day was riding on a Jet Ski where the professional took me to an ultra speedy ride to experience the adrenaline rush as if I was sitting in a roller roaster! The aquaphobia in me since childhood had made me feeling nervous during the first try, but I got all excited after rounds of splashes around the huge lake.

After enjoying the watersport activities to our hearts' content, it was time to fill our stomach with fresh seafood in Dengkil. The lunch was indeed sumptuous, and we were all fueled up to take the next challenge during the outing!

Arriving at MAEPS carpark after lunch,  our next activity was the Honda advanced driving safety tests and VSA activity by professional instructors. Since Honda City is dubbed as one of the safest cars to go [Because the all-new Honda City scored 15.8/16 and a full 5 stars for crash testing in ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) 2014 Q3], we ought to experience it ourselves!

Active safety is covered by Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Emergency Stop Signal, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Traction Control and Hill Start Assist. Most importantly, it comes with class-leading 6 airbags as the top safety feature to prioritize both driver and passengers.

Overall, the vehicle stability is greatly enhanced, to help you avoid accidents during unexpected situations or during tight cornering  or on slippery road surfaces. In the event of any crash condition, Honda's G-Force Control Technology (G-CON) body structure provides better protection, mitigating injuries to occupants and pedestrians.

Safety definitely cannot be compromised especially for the little ones. For families with children, the Rear Seat ISO Fix feature comes in handy to protect your most precious passenger.

According to Honda, the 536L trunk capacity forms the biggest segment of the car, and is larger than many large sedans. It is spacious enough to fit up to 3 large suitcases or 4 small ones, golf bags, baby pram and more, perfect for road trips. And the wide boot opening makes loading and unloading more convenient.

To give a better picture on how huge it is, the boot can fit 3 of us who are over 160cm tall!

The latest generation City is available in 4 variants: S, S+, E and V, and 5 colours: Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic, Taffeta White, Modern Steel Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl and Alabaster Silver Metallic.
