[REVIEW] June Nails Pampering at Maniqure KL

Guess what's the best time of the month? ❤ It's pampering time!

After being at home for the past 3 months due to MCO and CMCO, finally I get to enjoy some self-pampering time and therefore I am here at Maniqure Nail Salon, KL.

As I have frequented many nail parlours before, Maniqure is probably one of the prettiest nail salons I have been to! As soon as I enter into this first floor outlet at the busy shoplot area in Sri Petaling, KL, I am welcomed by a warm, tiffany blue and white interior which makes me feel like home. 

The manicure and pedicure services area is clean and organised, while it exudes a very girly ambiance which puts me at comfort and ease. I like how the lovely interior adds to the experience of relaxing and enjoying "me" time here.

For the nail art designs, I am pretty impressed by the wide varieties of designs available. In fact, the experienced and creative manicurist here can help customise any design based on your preference. But it is recommended to check out their online gallery beforehand, so that you can choose your design and get some inspirations before getting your nails done.

Some of my favourite nail art collections are Marble Stone, Mandarin Oriental, Floral Wedding, Disney Tsum Tsum, Bubble Tea nails etc. They have plenty of sample designs on display too, but trust me, you'll be overwhelmed by choices :P 

My manicure session begins with an aromatic glass of Signature Flower Tea and hot towel being served in front of me, and then the rest of the time is spent on nail trimming, buffering, removing dead skin cells and most importantly, nail art designing. 

It feels great to spend a couple of hours here while enjoying the session.

I choose the Ganymede Marble Nails - Jupiter's Moon Manicure from this series,

because I love something dark, mysterious and full of Swarovski diamonds! Pretty eh?

Verdict:

If you are looking for affordable gel manicure or pedicure coupled with excellent customer service amidst a comfortable ambiance, Maniqure is probably the place you should consider visiting :)

P/S: Do come with an empty stomach because there are so many eateries, cafes, and dessert spots around this area!

Cafe Hopping with 8excite at 5.1 Cafe Gallery, Sri Petaling

Hi! I am back to my cafe hopping routine. ❤

If you have been following me on Instagram, you'd surely know I am an avid cafe hopper. Most of the time, I visit the cafes on my own (not by invitation) with my friends, and I just love doing so. But do you agree, dining in a cafe (or any upscale restaurant) can be quite expensive?

So when browsing through the "Hot Deals" on 8excite mobile app, I saw this deal of 30% dining discount at 5.1 Cafe Gallery in Sri Petaling, selling at RM5. Since it is a 30% discount on the total bill, I think the deal is quite good for those who dine in a large group.

During the visit of 5.1 Cafe Gallery, Sri Petaling...

I have always wanted to visit 5.1 Cafe Gallery for its beautiful coffee art and vintage photography elements in the cafe. I guess it's the best time now... ❤

The interior of the cafe is pretty dim, nevertheless every corner is beautifully adorned with vintage paraphernalia of travel and photography related decors such as printed luggage bags, old-school picture frames, film cameras, etc. Very tastefully decorated and highly Instagram-able.

 Green Tea Latte @ RM10.90

One of my favourite things which is also the signature item here - the Green Tea Latte - is beautifully topped with a hand-drawn floral latte art. Admiring it would take quite a while before my lips reach for it.

Muffle Cheese Chicken Waffle @ RM21.90

Waffles are the No.1 specialty here, so be sure to try the savoury waffle / sweet waffle dessert here. I order a plate of triple-layered waffle topped with chicken, cheese and generous drizzles of mayonnaise, along with a side of wedges and salad. 

This makes a great brunch menu and it doesn't feel expensive at all after the discount I enjoyed :P

Little Piggie Rice Set @ RM17.90

If it is something oriental that you like, then try the pork cutlet rice set drizzled with creamy mushroom sauce.

My Personal Experience...

Overall, it is a satisfying delicious and affordable dining experience at 5.1 Cafe Gallery :) An ideal quiet place to chill and enjoy a wide variety of good waffles.

It is a great experience of enjoying great food without burning a hole in the pocket. Thumbs up for the great promotion, convenience and user-friendly features that 8excite has. ❤

Butterfly Dessert Cafe @ Sri Petaling, KL

When it comes to dessert, how many of you can resist? I definitely can't say No to pretty desserts! ❤

Being a dessert lover, I am pretty excited to check out this new dessert cafe located in Sri Petaling. 

There goes my Saturday afternoon high tea date...

Butterfly Dessert Cafe is tucked along one of the busiest streets in Sri Petaling, where you see a vibrant scene of restaurants and cafes in this area. Located on the first floor, it may take a while to find its exact location if you are not familiar with Sri Petaling. 

The easiest landmark you can see is the huge Ten Years Restaurant (with black signage) tucked at the corner of the street. And Butterfly Dessert Cafe is just right next to it. 

Parking Tips: Open parking bays are aplenty along this street. But when this area gets too busy, you can consider parking your car at the multi-level car park, and take a brisk walk to the cafe. 

On the first floor...we arrive at this sweet heaven. Can't wait to check out what they have to offer!

This incredibly modern space is flushed with white walls, cabinets, wooden flooring, and lights. At the center of it all is the barista's counter with gigantic pots of lovely flowers and cake display which ground the space so you don’t get lost in that sea of white.

Individual sliced cakes such as Classic Opera, Strawberry Lime, American Chocolate and Lemon Cheese Meringue are on display during my visit. If you merely need a quick fix of the sweet cravings, then a sliced cake should be more than satisfying.

Whereas plated desserts and beverages are listed on a separate menu. And we manage to try 3 of them. I love how the desserts here are mostly infused with fresh fruits to bring out the natural sweetness and refreshing flavours.

Orange Mango Trifle @ RM25

One may expect the Orange Mango Trifle to appear in bright yellow hues, but surprisingly the version we have here is rather different. This classic British dessert is served in a small glass jar, which is incredibly creamy and fresh and is easily our favourite item on the menu.

As we dig into the layers of orange and mango mousse, we are surprised by an overwhelming portion of sweet fresh mango cubes. Seriously, almost every spoonful is filled with the fresh fruit! Perfect for the mango lovers. 

In case if you're wondering how is the portion like, the trifle is quite huge and dense.

Recommended to share this lovely dessert with 2-3 friends.

Deconstructed Strawberry Opera @ RM28

Our next favourite is the Deconstructed Strawberry Opera, a beautiful representation of what constitutes a Red Opera Cake. One thing worth mentioning is the beautiful presentation of the serving – clearly a great deal of attention has been paid to the plating, including the strawberry jelly and strawberry-coated almonds adorning the stacks of sponge cake.

A sweet drizzle of the rich strawberry sauce allows for a more prominent fruity touch on the dessert.

The overall taste is refreshing, and nothing too overwhelming for the palate.

Chocolate Banana @ RM25

We often save the best for last -- A rich chocolate crispy dome with hidden treasures

underneath the shell, creating a chocolate lover's dream come true. 

Again, special mention on the beautiful presentation. It melts our heart away as soon as it is served upon us! 

Cutting through the dome, we are immediately taken with the contrasting layers of banana slices, creamy caramel chocolate chantilly and a mini dome filled with dark chocolate ganache. 

This beautiful dessert certainly requires a little skill but is well worth the effort. Be it texture or flavour wise, the marriage between chocolate and banana strikes a balance of richness without being overly cloying on the mouth. 

We finish off our dessert session with a cup of dark chocolate for me and mocha for my dining partner. But if you prefer something lighter to wash away the sugar rush, various teas are served in a pot here including English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Spring Green Tea, Chamomile Blossoms, Lemongrass Ginger and Genmaicha. 

Verdict:

1. Overall, it is a more low-key affair, where we chill at the cosy white space and are surrounded by fine plated desserts to indulge the senses. ❤ 

2. This place may lack of glamourous ambiance but it certainly makes up for its taste and great attention to details in every dessert it serves.

3. If there is one thing that you must try here, it'd be the Orange and Mango Trifle.

Le Pont Boulangerie New French Dining Menu 2017

Can’t believe that time passes so quickly and the cafe I used to hang out at, Le Pont Boulangerie is about 2 years old now! I have been there so many times with my friends (because both outlets in Old Klang Road and Sri Petaling are near to my house) but yet to have chance to do a proper blog write-up about it.

Le Pont Sri Petaling outlet is tucked at the corner of the shop lots, just a stone throw away from The Store.

Le Pont Boulangerie specializes in making French-style breads and the ground floor of both outlets in Sri Petaling and Old Klang Road displays a wide range of freshly baked goodies where we can grab and go.

On the second floor of the outlet, we are warmly greeted by a lovely, quiet setting which is perfect for hanging out with friends or bonding with family members. So this round I am trying out the all-new menu featuring sensational French dishes prepared in sous vide cooking method.

Honestly I am surprised because sous vide style is usually available in upscale fine dining restaurants; can’t believe that I can enjoy such refined food at this French casual dining place too!

Cheese Baked Escargot @ RM24.90

We kickstart the meal with the new cheese baked escargot – nicely baked with cheese and garlic cream sauce. Dig into the cheesy goodness and you’ll find a slow cooked egg in it along with spinach.

Smoked Mussel Pot @ RM30.90

Similarly served with a side of garlic bread, the 200g home-smoked black mussel in whole shells

is rich in flavours as it is well drenched in creamy gravy and mixed herbs.

Aromatic BBQ Wings (6 pieces) @ RM20.90

Juicy wings and drumlets coated with thick, fruity-based homemade BBQ sauce.

Once hooked, we just can't stop munching on the BBQ wings!

For the main courses, there are quite a number of new dishes to try including Cajun Chicken Raisin Rice, Butter Fish Papillote and Chicken Pate.

Butter Fish Papillote

Our white tuna fish is prepared in sous vide style in parchment paper, then baked with onions, carrots, leeks, button mushrooms, dill and lemon. The combination fully seals the natural flavours and juices within the fish, making it a great option healthy goers.  

Chicken Cordon Bleu @ RM33.90

The succulent chicken stuffed with cheese and turkey ham is coated with thick breadcrumb.

The sides of roasted potatoes, caramelised carrot and tonkatsu sauce are just nice to complement the dish.

Le Pont Lamb Shank @ RM45.90

Our all-time favourite is the juicy braised lamb shank cooked in sous vide style for 48 hours. This cooking method allows the meat to tenderise and absorb the flavours of apricot sauce well. It is also served with a side of mashed potatoes, roasted pepper and asparagus. 

Mushroom Carbonara @ RM23.90
A hearty plate of fettucine with button mushroom, thyme, cream
and loads of parmesan cheese which I am super in love with.

Chocolat au Coulant @ RM19.90

What not to be missed here is the new line-up of artisan desserts, crafted with premium ingredients, European flair and a touch of molecular gastronomy. Bringing to us the intricate art of French desserts, each creation is definitely a treat to the eyes.

We girls go gaga when desserts are served upon us. Our No.1 favourite is the well-love Chocolat au Coulant, a tall chocolate lava cake with oozing dark chocolate upon cutting through the shell. The thick molten chocolate sauce is actually bitter (Good quality, real dark chocolate!), and well-balanced by the sweetness of the vanilla ice cream.

Fraisee au Coulant @ RM18.90

A sweeter version of the signature dessert is the Fraisee au Coulant. Instead of bursting with chocolate filling, there is rich, gooey white chocolate and strawberry encased within the crunchy biscuit shell. Crowned with a scoop of homemade strawberry ice cream, this dessert is sure to win a girl’s heart.

Chocolate Fudge Gala @ RM15.90

Chocolate Fudge Gala is also a great option especially for those who prefer gluten-free / flourless desserts. It combines a medley of walnuts, chopped hazelnuts, poached strawberries and homemade vanilla ice cream cone in one, creating an aesthetically appealing dessert that pleases the sweet tooth.

Lychee and Earl Grey Ice @ RM13.90

Craving for something not so sweet? Tea lovers will love this tea-infused dessert – Lychee and Earl Grey Ice. I personally enjoy this refreshing blend of homemade vanilla ice cream, Bavarian lychee, earl grey and jelly, as every spoonful exudes the lovely aroma of earl grey tea without overwhelming the palate.

Overall, Le Pont has everything you need from bread and pastry to a wide selection of main meals, desserts and coffee. Recommended for all-day dining in any occasions!
