Cheers! Guāng Bar has become one of my favourite hangout spots lately whenever I feel like getting some drinks and fixing my cravings for Japanese-Asian food. Unlike any ordinary bars, Guāng serves pretty delicious food - I mean real food, not just bar snacks - so let's see what I had....

Shin Zushi Japanese Restaurant @ Bukit Jalil
Bukit Jalil is increasingly popular with its cafe scene, for instance the famous waffle house, The Owls Cafe which I have blogged HERE earlier. But let's not neglect other cheap eats in this area-- including Shin Zushi where you can find good, affordable Japanese cuisine in the neighbourhood. Of course, my favorite Japanese restaurant in the world is still called Ramen Hiroshi, which I tried in San Ramon, California.
I didn't notice any convenyor belt transporting the sushi around the restaurant, but we can always order from the menu and the sushi will be prepared ala minute in front of the customers here.
To begin with, we order few plates of sushi rolls for sharing. The unagi maki is densely-filled with rice, and the grilled eel is nicely glazed with the flavourful sauce and a dollop of cod fish roe on top.
Something more refreshing on the menu is the mango and chicken floss roll which is both savoury and tangy at the same time. Decent taste but not something I'd like.
For the appetizer, the crispy salmon skin salad can easily get us hooked especially when paired with creamy sesame dressing. Portion wise, it is great for sharing.
Yasai Tempura @ rm13
(Assorted vegetables tempura)
Next, the tempura udon set comes slightly disappointing as we are only given few pieces of tempura, with a strong gingery dipping sauce. Hence, tempura lovers may want to order another helping to satisfy the cravings.
As a sashimi lover, the raw salmon rice bowl simply perfects my meal with its generous portion of thickly sliced fresh salmon on a bed of sushi rice. Not the best grade of salmon, but at this price I have no complaints.
Set meals are aplenty on the menu, with affordable price tags. Mine is a nicely grilled salmon served with miso soup, steamed egg, salad, fruits and rice. The special sweet and savoury sauce adds more flavour to the fish, but I prefer having it plain to enjoy its freshness.
Verdict:
1. Overall, the total damage is less than RM200 for 6 pax, which I find it reasonable and good for casual family dinners around the neighbourhood.
2. Reason to visit: Great varieties, fair portion and quality.
3. Recommended: Shake Don, Roasted Eels with Mentai Maki and Salmon Teppan Teishoku
Note:
Booking is not allowed during weekends, so do expect to queue on a first come first serve basis.

Fishee Coffee @ Bukit Jalil, KL
Fishee Coffee. A name that attracts me when I first heard about it. Many have asked if I am one of the owners here, but unfortunately no. Well, nevertheless I am a fan of this lovely cafe :) Guess why? Keep reading!
Here you can make yourself at home, whether you wanna sink into the fluffy sofa, or to sit by the window enjoying bright natural sunshine to keep the mood light. Every nook and corner here is so beautifully decorated that it becomes very picture worthy especially for Instagrammers.
It serves plenty of signature toasts as the primary item on its menu, as well as a small selection of cakes and waffle for the peckish customers and fruit juices for the non-caffeine drinkers.
I skip my daily dose of caffeine this time, and opt for the signature chocolate drinks instead. Rich and foamy, it is a cup of comfort on its own. Not too sweet for my liking.
One of the energy-boosting toasts we try is topped with basic breakfast goodies such as egg, cheese, ham and vegetables. Slicing through the toast reveals the crisp crust, followed by the soft pillowy texture inside. Simple, soul-comforting and tummy-filling :)
I am very particular about the noise level in every cafe I visit, and I am glad that Fishee Coffee is a perfect hideout for me to spend a quiet afternoon here amidst the cozy and comfortable ambiance.

Fishee Dream Chocolate @ RM12.00
Eggee-Ham Toast @ RM13.00
Fishee Ball @ RM13.00
Every bite is so thick and creamy! Sharing is recommended if you don't want
to overstuff yourself with cheese unless you are a true fan of cheese.
Verdict:
As for the dessert, first timers must try the signature Fishee Ball, a whole piece of fresh thick cheese coated with premium dark chocolate on a base of crushed Oreo cookies. The quirky name and presentation surely tempt me to try it out too, especially when I am a cheesy lover.

1. Nice place to chill with friends or to work alone quietly especially during weekdays when the crowd is lesser.
2. Food, drinks and ambiance are great but if I were to have any complaints at all, it would be the parking issue here during working hours.

The Owls Cafe @ Bukit Jalil, KL
I must admit that I have been going to countless number of cafes, but so far my personal favourite is still The Owls Cafe despite of the booming number of new eateries opening everyday. In fact, I have visited plenty of so-called waffle specialists and most of them are just mediocre. If you are an avid cafe hopper, surely you've tried The Owl's signature waffle.
Interestingly, the waffles here come in quirky names such as Rebecca, David, The Queen, Milo Dinosaur and The Classic. It also comes in savoury type with duck meat or salmon on herb-based waffles. However, I would still go for the sweet version each time I come to this cafe.
Here you can have ultra-thick Belgian waffles in flower shape. The batter is extra light, hence producing very airy and fluffy waffle that does not feel overly heavy on the palate. Rebecca (The name of the waffle!) is filled with fresh strawberries and blueberries, then topped with homemade Earl Grey ice cream which is well-blended with the Almond flakes and Maple Syrup.
I am totally blown by the extra creamy ice cream as it exudes surprisingly rich aroma of earl grey tea.
Tea lovers would certainly love it!
Vanilla Mille Crepe @ RM12

If you are looking for a more affordable sweet treat, the variety of cakes on the chiller is also worth a try. Our decadent slice of mille crepe is melting good with rich vanilla scent but it is a tad sweet for my liking.
Another highly recommended cake is the ToFuFah Cheesecake from Project Cake Therapy which I have tried at POKC, Damansara Uptown, and it is really good! A great option even for those who don't usually love strong cheese flavour.
"How Coffee Works" chart is displayed at the cafe, but I have not tried any coffee here since I am currently taking a break from the caffeine dose. If you have sampled any, please let me know if they are good :D
Every corner of the cafe is beautifully adorned with colorful little owl decors that fill the space with loads of fun and joy. Although the overall space seems quite packed, it remains very cosy and comfortable especially during weekdays where the crowd is less overwhelming.
I love sitting at the corner facing the window with my laptop on, and admire the beauty of these little ones. Overall, it is a quiet and comfortable day well spent at this cafe while I work on my own stuff.

Verdict:
1. Pricewise, I think the sweet waffles are quite decent, considering the quality of ingredients used. But I don't personally like the savoury waffle because of the price factor (cheapest is RM24 each!).
2. I will revisit for its breakfast croissant menu, which I find it quite interesting and worth checking out.
3. All in all, The Owls is worth visiting for its brunch and dessert menu!
