Restaurant Hai Thian (海天酒家) @ Equine Park, Seri Kembangan

Last weekend, I went for a wedding banquet at Hai Thian,
a Chinese restaurant located at the outskirt of town,
catering for the Chinese neighbourhoods around the area.

To my surprise, the interior of the restaurant is very exquisite
with a touch of grandness of an ancient imperial dining hall.

#1 Shark Fin with Seafood Soup (三包鱼翅) @ RM200

The dinner began with rich seafood soup with its good consistency, neither
too gooey nor sticky. Truly a good bargain with generous amount of seafood.

#2 Four Seasons (四季兴隆) @ RM120

The hot and cold platter consists of a yam bowl, crabstick siew mai, fried chicken cubes as well as my favourite sauteed fresh scallop with beans. Everything has a well-balanced flavour from sweet to savory. The portion is generous for a 10 pax dining.

#3 Steamed Fish with Superior Soya Sauce (招牌清蒸鱼) @ RM120

The fish is bracingly fresh, with lovely boost of flavour from the lightly salty sauce.
The thick and flaky meat just gets me wanting for more.

#4 Roasted Duo- Suckling Pig & Chicken (鸳鸯烧宴) @ RM90

This dish is very suitable for those who love to try both signature roasted chicken and pork.
The crisp thin skin, when paired with a fat layer of porky meat is very tender but not as moist as the juicy chicken slices. Both burst with flavours when dipped into dark sweet sauce.

#5 Fried Sea Prawns with Curry Leaves & Belacan
(甘香炒海虾) @ RM88

The prawns are very heavy in curry leaves flavour, which appears to overwhelm
its natural sweetness. However, for those who enjoy deep savory taste, here's the
unique one you should go for.

#6 Stir-Fried Bak Choy with Mushrooms (白菜炒什菇) @ RM40

#7 Stir-Fried Multigrain Rice (五味炒饭) @ RM50

Unlike the usual lotus leaf glutinous rice, the rice is proved to be interesting with its 5 colors
of beans which we normally use to make Chinese dumplings. It is not as sticky and soggy,
but retains its moisture and flavourful with chunks of mushrooms.

#8 Longan with White Fungus (雪耳龙眼糖水) @ RM30

Putting a sweet endnote to the sumptuous dinner, the chilled dessert
is meaningful to the newly weds as a wish for them to stay sweet forever.

#9 Chinese Pot Pie (锅饼)

Complementing the hot dessert is this sweet hot pan-fried pancake with lotus paste filling.
Layered between the crispy skin is the creamy paste which is lightly sweetened,
just right in taste for my liking!

#9 Map to Hai Thian Restaurant (海天酒家)

The restaurant has been operating since this new housing area has been developed few years back. It is a middle-range Chinese restaurant, where I find good value for money. Don't be surprised if I come back to explore on more dishes.

Verdict:
1. I'd rate 4/5 for the taste, ambiance and service. Highly recommended for casual family dining as well as functions.
2. Recommended: Four Seasons, Steamed Fish with Superior Soya Sauce and Stir-Fried Multigrain Rice
3. Pricewise, it costs approximately RM15-50 per pax, considered reasonable with huge portion for each dish.
