Carousel International Coffee House @ Palace of Golden Horses, Seri Kembangan

Showcasing the best of Halal local and international cuisine, Carousel at Palace of the Golden Horses is by far the favourite among casual family diners and large corporate citizens to enjoy a sumptuous buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Stepping into the coffee house will definitely bring back lovely memories as this all-day dining restaurant is beautifully adorned with vintage carousel horses, creating a cheerful fairground setting to keep your mood in high spirits.

Being the largest restaurant of the hotel, it can fit up to 220 pax,
perfectly suitable for events and functions.

The buffet spread begins with Western appetizers served in shot glasses and cold cuts section where diners will be tantalized by turkey ham, smoked salmon, chicken terrine and others displayed on a bed of ice to maintain the meat freshness.

The beautiful spread of fresh salad, along with house-baked breads, tummy-warming soups, assorted cheese, dips and condiments make the perfect palate opener, before we are spoilt with myriad of choices for main courses.

Nice selection of pungent cheeses

 Seafood on Ice

The fresh seafood on ice at Carousel may not be the biggest variety in town, but it offers one of the freshest oysters you'll ever try. Much like other buffets, seafood is served on ice. Dig into the freshly-shucked oysters and enjoy the briny sweet juice on its own or dress it up with a squeeze of fresh lemon!

Ikan Bakar dengan Air Kicap

Carousel has a traditional carving station, serving seasonal items like roasted beef and lamb, but you'll also find the crowd's favourite grilled fish. It is well-coated with the right amount of spices, not requiring any dip to enhance its flavour.

Kari Ikan Tenggiri, Ayam Masak Kicap, Singapore Fried Meehoon, Nasi Bukhari

Of course, in addition to fresh and grilled seafood, there are plenty of quintessential local dishes to choose from on the buffet spread. Rendang, fish curry, prawns in coconut gravy, bukhari rice, and more are among the selection of ready-to-eat cooked dishes along the buffet line.

I'm totally smitten with the combination of Udang Masak Lemak Cili Api with some light Nasi Bukhari. Exuding strong aroma of local herbs, the prawns are succulent and go well with some tangy nasi bukhari. The rice is simply good, neither too soggy nor dry for my taste.

Deep-fried Fish with Thai Chilli Sauce, Chinese Lo Han with Mixed Vegetables,
Wok-fried Squid with Celery, Roasted Chicken

If non-spicy food is the preference, then diners will love the unpretentious Chinese favourite dishes!

Noodle Station

Save some room for the massive dessert selection, which includes cakes, jellies, pastries and even traditional kuih. All of these colorful, cute little delights are not excessively sweet, making it a perfect end to a scrumptious meal.

Weekday dinner buffet is priced at RM88++ per adult / RM44++ per child.
Weekend high tea buffet is priced at RM48++ per pax.

All in all, we truly enjoy the buffet spread at Carousel International Coffeehouse. For a delicious mix of local and international cuisine, be sure to visit Carousel to stimulate your taste buds and warm the soul!

Verdict:
1. The quality of the buffet is acceptable, but falls below my expectation.
2. Varieties of the food can still be improved, especially on the seafood station and live interactive cooking counters.
3. The price falls a tad high considering what it offers.
