Taste New Zealand Food Fair: Cooking with NZTE

Hey, guess who is cooking? Me!

In conjunction to the Taste New Zealand food fair happening from 30 November till 10 December 2017, we manage to whip up some simple dishes using the premium New Zealand produce and taste them fresh from the kitchen.

Approaching year end, Taste New Zealand Food Fair is back with the best of New Zealand products, perfect for feasting during this festive season. If you love NZ products, this is a good time to stock up the wide array of items such as confectionery, dairy products, cookies / snacks, vegetables / fresh produce, meat, baby products, household personal car and honey.

Organized by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), Taste New Zealand is held at all 7 AEON outlets nationwide from 30 November to 10 December 2017, showcasing more than 150 varieties of delicious edibles and innovative products.

As for our cooking session, we get to experience the quality of produce from New Zealand ourselves at the kitchen in Berjaya University College.

Special thanks to Berjaya University College team especially Executive Chef Krishnan for giving us valuable tips on cooking the 3 festive-perfect recipes using New Zealand mussels and Greenlea beef.

To be honest, being a first timer, I find that the Greenlea Chilled Beef is easy to prepare! Greenlea is 0ne of the biggest meat exporters who have started business 80 years ago in New Zealand. What we are having today is a thick cut of pure New Zealand grass-fed beef; how delicious it is!

Just pair the steak with a side of carbs (mashed potato would be great) and vegetables for a hearty meal.

Stir-fried beef strip using Greenlea beef is equally great if you prefer something more Asian.

As for the appetizer, we have the Cheese Baked Mussels using the fresh greenlipped mussels from Talley’s. Again, the mussels are clean and easy to prepare if you want to whip up something simple yet satisfying for this Christmas.

After trying the New Zealand produce, no doubt the food quality is great. If you do not already know, the clean environment and world-leading food safety regime in New Zealand have earned them an international reputation for producing safe, delicious and nutritious food and drink.
