Guāng Bar @ Bukit Jalil

Cheers! Guāng Bar has become one of my favourite hangout spots lately whenever I feel like getting some drinks and fixing my cravings for Japanese-Asian food. Unlike any ordinary bars, Guāng serves pretty delicious food - I mean real food, not just bar snacks - so let's see what I had....

Chiizu Gyoza Fondue @ RM30

There are plenty of fried stuff on the appetizer menu, but this cheesy dumpling fondue is a to-go item for sharing. Well, simply because... cheese makes everything better, don't you agree?

The cheese fondue is seriously no joke. Let the thick layers of mozzarella and cheddar cheese melt on the sizzling pan upon heating, then swirl the cheese around the tender fried dumpling. It can be overwhelming for some, but being a cheese lover, it gets me hooked instantly!

Osaka Pizza @ RM30

To complement our sake, we order the crowd's favourite Osaka pizza for sharing and it truly doesn't disappoint at all. Loaded with minced pork, pork shabu, lap cheong, pork lard, cheese and red sauce as the toppings, this pizza is sure to win the hearts of hog lovers.

Teriyaki Chicken and Cheese Don @ RM18

Guāng also serves a variety of Japanese rice and noodles but this bowl of teriyaki chicken is just mediocre. Although I appreciate its robust flavours, I think other items on the menu could fare better at this price point.

Guāng serves an extensive range of beers, but here is the place where we should pick up the Japanese drinking culture instead - Sake is the No.1 to-go drink here.

But of course, my experience wouldn't be complete without enjoying the live band performance which plays everyday till late. The mandopop songs just got me drunk in the melodies.

Guāng is a place where you will always belong, a place that feels like home.

Verdict:
1. Guāng is more like a family-friendly bar to me, with its ever inviting ambiance and excellent Japanese-Asian influence on its food.
2. Be it casual dining, after-work chill-out, or private gathering, I think this is a nice spot that scores fairly well in all aspects.
3. Recommended: Chiizu Gyoza Fondue, Osaka Pizza
