Review: Hair Coloring + Treatment @ LeMiz Hair Studio, Kota Damansara

It's time for new hairstyle again! My convocation ceremony was one week away,
so I decided to get a new hair color for this special occasion.

The place I went this time is a new saloon in Kota Damansara, just a stone throw away from Sunway Giza. In conjunction to its grand opening, LeMiz Hair Studio is having promotion for all chemical treatments, so why not give it a try?

The interior is pretty simple, but I love the idea of using full-length mirror here so that I can take nicer pictures :P

Plenty of shades are available in the premium range from a Germany brand.

When it comes to choosing the color, I really couldn't decide because I wanted something that looks obvious even at night, but not too bright during the day. So the stylist suggested me to get Medium Burgundy Red.

I chose the hair color promo package for RM168 inclusive of professional hair cut and application of leave-in ampoule. Honestly I couldn't believe I can get such competitive rate at this area! For hair longer than bra length, additional RM20 will be charged.

For my medium-long hair length, the entire dyeing process took approximately 2 hours.

Love the attention to detail services here! After applying the hair dye, the stylist even covers my hair with plastic wrap to prevent the excessive hair dye from reaching my skin.

As part of the current promotion, customers can enjoy 20% OFF for all the hair treatment services, so I just topped up a little for much healthier hair. The intensive treatment after hair dye begins with :

1. Generous application of Japanese treatment cream, followed by
2. Warm ironing technique to enhance nutrient absorption
3. And several sprays of vitamin water to nourish the hair
4. Then it is left for 10 minutes before rinsing off

After that, the stylist adds another thick layer of hair mask,
and steams the hair for 10 minutes before rinsing off for the second time.

....Finally, the outcome is AMAZING!!

Honestly, I am totally satisfied with the ultra vibrant burgundy red shade that covers my previously highlighted hair very evenly. The tone is awesome, as my hair color doesn't look "flat" or single dimensional anymore!

Comparison: Before VS After

On the left, it shows my hair condition / color 3 weeks ago. The brownish tone has faded, and my hair looks frizzy and dry. Let's compare it with the picture on the right; Look how drastic is the change! I am totally loving my bright burgundy shade now, and it looks vibrant purplish under low light condition.

Sample picture: Taken under low light condition in TGV Beanieplex Cinema

Verdict:
#1 The result of hair dye is pretty good, and the color choices come in a wide range of bright and dark shades. Most importantly this color doesn't make my hair look dry and unhealthy.
#2 Love the detailed consultation (before dyeing), impeccable services (throughout the process) and amazing result that meets my expectations.
#3 Rating: 5/5 ♥ Worth a try? Definitely!

Top Korean Apps are Launching Soon in Malaysia!

Things are just too good to be true. I believe all of us are smartphone users with one or more mobile devices that we can't live without everyday. Something great is coming up from the top Korean mobile app professionals, in conjunction to the upcoming Korean Apps Wave 2015 event on the 8–9th September 2015 at Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Hotel

If you have not heard of it, this event is a joint effort among the big names in the mobile apps industry-- MOIBA (Mobile Internet Business Association–Korea), Ubi-Nuri Inc. (Korean bigger content aggregator) and My Appszil Asia Sdn Bhd (MASB)-- with the support by Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) Sdn Bhd. This huge event will showcase top mobile apps from Korea and Malaysia, as well as the success stories of these top selected app developers.

Among the top apps, here are some which will be launched in Malaysia and you'll be able to download them onto your Android and iOS devices!

FAMY-- Family Chat and location tracking app (Android and iOS)

Chatting app can be quite common in Malaysia, but I find this new FAMY app very interesting as it keep your family members safe by providing accurate location tracking, storing history of movement paths and allowing you to share your location to a group and send SOS message if anything goes wrong. Best app for ladies and children!

BridgeCall-- Free call service that lets you make calls without launching the app itself (Android and iOS)

Another functional app that I personally can't wait to try is the BridgeCall. It automatically
transfers your regular call to a free call if the recipient is also a BridgeCall user. How cool is that!

Boto the Pink Dolphin-- A game-playing education program to enhance child's creativity and talents

On top of that, there are also plenty of children education apps that are originally designed
in Korea but now they have been localized to suit our Malaysian market.

Invention Savers-- Let your young ones unleash their creativity!

RE-VOLT Classic 3D Racing Game,-- Everyone's all-time favourite arcade game.

God Summoners-- A strategic game about mythological heroes and gods.
You can even play it through a smart Samsung TV after downloading the app!

Happy Chicken Town-- A very cute, casual game to destress during the day!

In fact, this regional Korean Apps Wave event will certainly be an eye opener for the gamers, fans, journalists, those in related industries and university students. I can't wait to check out the latest apps that the talented developers will be showcasing.

See you on the 8–9th September 2015 at Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Hotel!

Maybank Go Ahead Challenge (#MGAC2015): Season Of Smile (‪#‎SOS)

Do you remember my previous post about Maybank Go Ahead Challenge 2015 ‪(#‎MGAC2015‬)? The global competition had been ongoing for months, and last week marked the final week of the top 60 challengers from around the world to accept final round of challenges.

Let's make the world a better place!

As part of the challenges, the global finalists of ‪#‎MGAC2015‬ took over Bukit Bintang with creative projects and activities for the general public, through their CSR fundraising initiative dubbed Season Of Smile (‪#‎SOS)‬. All the funds raised would go into different charities.

10 groups of finalists had set up their own booth along Bukit Bintang, namely in front of Pavilion KL, Starhill Gallery and Lot 10 shopping malls. Kudos to their strong perseverance and strong spirits, they were promoting for the good cause regardless of rain or shine!

Let's take a picture with the cute mascot!

Puan Nora, the Head of Group Human Capital for Maybank Group
and her colleagues were there to check out this meaningful campaign too.

Among the 10 booths that we had visited, "Amsanna" was one of my favourite because of their great services and friendliness. The station was transformed into a beauty parlour where I managed to get my nail manicure fix while Carmen went for eyebrow shaping and hand massage. I guess a nice pampering session certainly makes girls happy!

These ‪#‎MGAC2015 finalists really deserved a pat on the shoulder! They are really creative when it comes to creating CSR projects. "MR Mary & Ross" shopping kiosk allowed us to play a shopping game by matching the shopping bag price to a targeted amount.

For instance, Carmen and I were given 30 seconds to grab anything in store that can accumulate to the range between RM49 to RM51. If we succeed in this challenge, then we would be able to bring everything we picked home.

Haha, but neither of us were grocery shopping queen. Luck was not on our side, and our total amount was RM52.63. Anyway it was alright, because we managed to donate RM20 to the charity homes!

After shopping, it was time to treat our hungry tummy. Thanks to one of the booths, "Finnie", Milkcow soft serve ice cream came perfectly at the nick of time as a late afternoon dessert.

As we strolled along the street, more and more food were coming our way. The brownies and cupcakes from different teams were all selling like hot cakes! I could see it was indeed a great effort from the MGAC challengers to prepare for this event within such a short timeframe.

"Tom's Food: Best Hotdogs and Pizzas in Town"

On the other hand, the "Hamilton" team spread happiness by offering selfie and instant photo printing services for just RM5! Well, how often do you get instant prints like this? It's super worth it right!

Thanks for being the smiley agents and painting the town yellow!

"Shroom"--- Another unique idea I've seen, combinning both Uber cab and AirBNB accommodation services into one.

Look at those angels! I can feel smiles are everywhere and love is in the air.

Despite of being just a short one-day Season Of Smile (‪#‎SOS)‬ fundraising event, it was great to see how hard everyone in MGAC2015 had worked to make a difference in other's lives. With this, MGAC become more than just a global challenge platform, but an avenue for everyone to become a winner because they have hearts of champions.

Now that MGAC2015 has come to an end, and congratulations to the winning teams who walked away with amazing cash prizes and global internship opportunities.

Champion : Team Star Wars (USD 40,000)
1st Runner Up : Team Terminator (USD 20,000)
2nd Runner Up : Team X-Men (USD 10,000)
Most Popular ‪#‎MGAC2015‬ Team : Team X-Men

Anyway, I hope to see you again in Maybank Go Ahead Challenge 2016.

Lava Lava Gourmet Bun (火山包专门店) @ SS2

When it comes to eating, there is no shortage along the busy streets of SS2, with a widespread range of local fare, cafes, fast food and wonder hawker food vendors. But Lava Lava manages to catch our attentions with its wide range of fine fluffy quality gourmet buns which are handmade daily from scratch.

Lava Lava is easily noticeable from the main road as it is located next to
the popular Nasi Kandar Pelita, directly opposite to McDonald's SS2 outlet.

Imagine the aromatic space that conquers your senses as soon as the savoury sauce oozes out like molten lava in your mouth. How can you resist such simple yet addictive Lava Lava Bun? As soon as we learn about the painstaking process of making the buns, we are more eager to try out the chef's new innovation buns!

The ambiance of the cafe makes it a comfortable hangout spot, with just the right amount of quirkiness to keep things simple yet fun. The contemporary and vibrant interior exudes a sense of relaxed ease. Unfortunately, the staff here are a little inattentive and do not respond much to customers.

 Lava Lava Buns
Aromatic Curry Chicken (香浓咖哩鸡丁)
Mushroom Chic (蘑菇鸡丁)
Chicken Satay (沙爹鸡丁)
Chicken BBQ (马来黄姜鸡丁) @ RM3.90

The homemade gourmet buns come in 3 distinctive flavours-- Aromatic Curry Chicken, Mushroom Chicken and Chicken Satay-- which are totally unique and not commonly available elsewhere. The buns come with a story behind it-- the painstaking process of waking up at wee hours to knead the dough, prepare the filling from scratch and bake the buns before the shop opens.

Sometimes if you are lucky, the daily specially-baked buns may come in Chicken BBQ or Tom Yam flavours. Other pastries such as Lava Lava egg tarts and toasts are seasonal, and may not be available everyday.

Aromatic Curry Chicken Bun (香浓咖哩鸡丁)

What makes Lava Lava bun different from the usual bun from bakeries is the extra buttery flavour and crispy exterior of the bun that absorbs the aroma of the filling very well.

Our biggest applause goes to the fluffy and hearty Curry Chicken Bun that is stuffed with chicken cubes and creamy curry gravy that oozes out as you put it into your mouth. The filling is very thick, robust in spiciness and it gives an instant kick to the palate.

Chicken Satay Bun (沙爹鸡丁)

Added with local touch, the exotic chicken satay bun is equally noteworthy as its sauce has a well-balanced sweet and spicy flavour with strong aroma of grounded peanuts. It tastes exactly the same as dipping our chicken skewers into the peanut sauce!

Mushroom Chicken Bun (蘑菇鸡丁)

The basic flavour is usually the crowd's favourite. Filled with a delightful blend of tender chicken and juicy mushroom with a dash of brown sauce in a light fluffy bun, the bun will simply melt in the mouth.

 Main Courses
Apart from the signature buns, Lava Lava also whips up a combination of local and Western fare that is surprisingly kind to our pockets. Glancing through the menu, I find nothing that costs more than RM10! Here you can tuck into comfortable, fuss-free food for all meals of the day.

Lava Curry Noodle (Normal) @ RM6.90

Among the popular dishes, Lava curry noodle is our personal favourite because it packs a huge flavour punch from its rich, creamy broth. The portion is generous as the broth is full of eggs, beancurd sheet, beans sprout, and fried fish cake. You can even top up RM2 for a Chicken Rendang Drumstick, what a great deal right?

Lava Spaghetti (Black Pepper) @ RM9.90

Served with stir-fried al dente spaghetti and a helping of savoury black pepper sauce, Lava's signature fried chicken tastes incredible! Crispy on the outside and soft inside, the chicken does not turn soggy even after some time upon serving. Similar to the curry noodle, it comes with a side of Lava's special Crispers  and house salad. We don't mind coming back for such a big platter of pasta!

Caramelized Lava Buttery Chicken Rice @ RM9.90

If noodles are not your choice, Lava Lava also serves different types of Asian-influenced rice platter such as Lava Nasi Lemak (RM8.90) and Ayam Percik rice (RM9.90). As for the buttery chicken rice, the chicken is indeed crispy on the exterior despite of being soaked in the pool of buttery sauce.

Verdict:

1. Decent place for simple, comfort food but taste wise it is still lacking much.
2. Buns are okay, but must be eaten while hot. Otherwise you'd rather not eat them.
3. Recommended: Aromatic Curry Chicken Bun, Lava Curry Noodle
