New Zealand Natural: New Cafe Concept

Hi, my dear ice cream parlour! I didn't know that New Zealand Natural kiosk has changed so much recently. From a blue-coloured kiosk that sells only ice creams, now it is revamped into a vibrant-looking hut that lures both young and old with a wide selection of food items and desserts.

The story of New Zealand Natural (NZN) began since 1984. With over 700 outlets around the world, NZN has never compromised the quality of ice cream. Only the purest and freshest ingredients from New Zealand will be imported into Malaysia to manufacture the best of New Zealand ice creams here.

The new concept of the cafe at The Curve is pretty chic and comfortable. You can order some food while reading the books on the shelves or just enjoy a cup of coffee while surfing the Internet. It seems like NZN will be my favourite chilling spot during weekends soon.

With over 28 flavours at the counter, we are spoilt with choices. Apart from the classic vanilla and crowd's favourite chocolate, I found some exotic flavours there such as Hokey Pokey, Rum & Raisin, Creme de Coconut and Affogato

Fruit lovers will enjoy the citrus flavours including Superfruit, Mango Passion, Forest Berry, and more.

#1 Ice Cream(Cup/Cone)
Junior (1 flavour) @ RM6.90
Regular (2 flavours) @ RM11.90
Large (3 flavours) @ RM14.90

Yummy! My creamy Boysenberry Dream ice cream is overloaded with extra berry goodness. Premium toppings such as Ferrero Rocher, Kit Kat, M&M and Famous Amos cookies are available too. Anyway, there are plenty of desserts coming our way which complements the ice creams perfectly well.

How about the Cookie and Cream flavour? Thick, rich and doesn't melt away easily.

#2 Brownie Temptation @ RM14.90

A classic brownie with crunchy golden walnuts that is crispy and moist in texture but rich in taste, a spoonful of the freshly baked brownie sends a delightful aroma of chocolate through the senses. It is topped with a scoop of my fave Walnut Butterscotch ice cream on a bed of flowing, rich chocolate fudge sauce.

Look at the ice cream, it is loaded with chunky walnut pieces
hidden in the delicious waves of butterscotch and toffee!

#3 Banana Split @ RM19.90

Another crowd's favourite item on the sundaes menu. Plump, juicy bananas nestle amongst the 3 scoops of Chocolate Ecstasy, Boysenberry Dream and Vanilla Classic ice creams. However, this is only good for people with a sweet tooth, or for sharing because the sweetness of the combination does slightly overwhelmed my palate.

Apart from the usual ice creams and desserts, NZN now serves a great selection of freshly baked pastries, for instance doughnuts, puffs, muffins and cookies. You will be surprised that the Triple Chocolate Muffin and Wild Blueberry Muffin go very well with the ice creams too.

#4 Croissant @ RM2.00

The best thing here is, the price of the pastries ranges from RM2.00 to RM6.00, definitely worth giving it a go. Even the plainest croissant here tastes great, with a good amount of crispiness and buttery aroma that makes the pastry intensely flavourful, flaky and light.

#5 Toasted Almond Bar @ RM3.50

This is my personal favourite among all the pastries ♥ Topped with toasted almond flakes, the pastry is crispy on the outside and extremely soft inside. The filling is slightly sweet and it pairs well with the buttery and flaky exterior.

#6 Baked Sardine Puff @ RM3.90

#7 Chicken Rendang Puff @ RM4.00

Both puffs are generously filled with minced sardine and chicken. Although I didn't savour any of them, my dining partner is pretty satisfied with the taste and quality of the puffs here. I am surprised that an ice cream manufacturer serves such good pastries too!

#8 Chunky Double Chocolate Cookie @ RM4.50
#9 Oatmeal Cinnamon Raisin Cookie @ RM4.50

Stored in an air-tight jar, I found that the cookies here are fresh and delicious especially when they are warm, soft and chewy. Simple yet satisfying, it is a family favourite dessert, sweet snack, or after-school treat.

#10 Waffle Dazzle @ RM9.90

If you are looking for a combination of both savoury and sweet, waffle is the best choice here. Just enjoy the scoop of ice cream that melts in the mouth with a crispy golden Belgian waffle sealed with almond flakes, honey and chocolate sauce! It's perfectly sinful to indulge with your loved ones.

#11 Double Splendour @ RM13.90

Now let's double the happiness with double scoops of ice cream, sitting on a bed of crisp Belgian waffle drizzled with honey and chocolate sauce. The combination is so good that I can lick the entire all by myself!

#12 Affogato Milkshake @ RM14.90

On the beverages menu, NZN offers creamy shakes and coffee as well as healthy blends of juices, smoothies and tea. Well, the affogato milkshake is a blend of fresh milk, chocolate powder and 2 scoops of affogato ice cream, best for those who love to try a milder version of chilled coffee.

On the other hand, I'm attracted to the best-seling Cookies & Cream Thickshake (RM16.90), a thick blend of milk and 4 scoops of ice cream. You can choose your own flavour of ice creams to be blended into the milk too!

#13 Double Affogato @ RM11.90

Coffee fans would be happy to see the latest addition in the menu (Coming soon in June 2014)- Double Affogato. Basically it is a classic hot espresso topped with a scoop of affogato ice cream and dark chocolate waffle stick. It doubles the aroma and sensation of hot espresso, while adding more kicks to the drinks.

For me, I pick Green Tea Affogato instead. I have tried it somewhere else, and now I'm glad to find the original taste again at New Zealand Natural! When the cold green tea ice cream meets the hot espresso, it melts perfectly with a unique taste of refreshing reen tea and bold coffee.

#14 Smoothies @ RM9.90 // Juice Blends @ RM8.90

Not a fan of coffee? No worries. Healthy goers can enjoy a taste of real fruits from the refreshing smoothies (meaning sorbet + real fruit juices) and nutritious juices here. You can even create your own juice if it is not in the menu.

#15 Melon Spring Time @ RM9.90

What a perfect kickstart in the morning! The smoothie I opt is a perfect blend of real watermelon juice and passionfruit sorbet, together with banana, lychee and crushed ice. Therefore it turns out thick, refreshing and thirst-quenching.

#16 Gourmet Tea @ RM6.90

The gourmet tea choices also come at an affordable price. Just pick your favourite among the healthy Moroccan mint green tea, natural rosehip and hibiscus tea, pure chamomile flower tea, earl grey tea and ginger spiced tea.
