La Bodega Tapas Bar @ Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang Jaya

La Bodega Tapas Bar, a famous hide-out venue for delicious tapas and great cocktails, is often being mistaken as a restaurant that serves only Spanish food. In fact, its menu boasts a wide variety of Western delights that suit the most discerning tastes.

I make my visit there for La Bodega's wholesome spread of breakfasts, because it is having a 20% discount on all food items in the morning, all thanks to OffPeak.my. But this place is even better for evening feasts to savour some refreshing sangria, delicious tapas, great cocktails and superb Spanish wines!

Glancing at the breakfast menu, I already notice a couple of my favourite items on the list.

BREAKFAST
#1 Spanish Breakfast @ RM26 RM20.80

A complete platter of Spanish breakfast makes a great start of the day. Two poached farm fresh eggs are cooked to order and placed on an Italian toast, along with juicy sauteed mushrooms, potato confit, asparagus, turkey chorizo and chicken sausages.

Look at those mushrooms, so buttery and bursting with juicy goodness!

#2 Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon @ RM19 RM15.20

The salmon benedict is a good choice for healthy goers as the thick salmon retains its juicy constitution after being lightly smoked. Sitting on the freshly-baked toast is a pair of poached eggs, surrounded by generous drizzle of rich, buttery Hollandaise sauce.

As I fork through the poached egg, I couldn't help but stare in awe at how beautiful the golden yolk is. Its soft and creamy texture melts in the mouth perfectly along with the thick sauce and salmon slices.

HOT TAPAS AND RACIONES
#3 Champinones al Ajillo @ RM18 RM14.40

Besides having Spanish breakfast set as the highlight of our brunch, we also opted for hot tapas--- Button mushrooms sauteed with butter, garlic and parsley. I love the pleasant consistency of the aromatic gravy, so buttery and creamy. A simple yet elegant dish to indulge in as an appetizer.

Best to dip the complimentary basket of toasted bread into the comforting gravy!

PAELLA / RICE
#4 Paella Valenciana Mixta @ RM39 RM31.20 per pax

If you plan for something more filling or for sharing, a large pan of traditional Spanish rice cooked with seafood, peppers and peas tastes as great as it looks! The slightly sticky saffron rice pairs perfectly well with seafood and white wine.

DESSERTS
#5 Chocolate Volcano @ RM20 RM16

When it comes to dessert, I am having an exquisite and rich affair with Chocolate Volvano. A slight tap on the crust and it breaks into a molten flowing ooze of thick chocolate that it is finely balanced with the vanilla ice cream.

A decadent piece of dessert that you must order at La Bodega!

Verdict:
1. Portion and taste wise, La Bodega has done well as compared to many medium range cafes and restaurants.
2. The varieties on the menu are fairly extensive from Spanish tapas, to European breakfast sets.
3. Recommended: Button Mushrooms tapas, Chocolate Volcano
