CNY Promotion @ Hakata Ippudo Ramen (一風堂)

If there is one noodle soup that I love the most, it would be ramen because of the rich concoction of broth and porky goodness. IPPUDO, the renowned ramen specialist has gained much popularity since its very first opening at Pavilion KL in 2013. You can read my first visit during this grand opening: HERE

Berry Fields @ RM11Blend of house green tea with raspberry
Passion Ration @ RM11 Blend of orange juice with passion fruit

What makes IPPUDO different from other ramen shops is the modern concept of the store that attracts people to unwind and sip on some Japanese alcoholic drinks by the bar counter while downing bowls of ramen. If ramen is not on your list, IPPUDO spoils you with other choices ranging from light bites to dessert.

Fortune Salmon Yee Sang (RM28 for 2 pax, RM38 for 4 pax)

It's the first time that IPPUDO Malaysia outlets offer Yee Sang during the festive season. The seasonal dish is only available till 5 March 2015. Japanese Yee Sang staple condiments include jelly fish, japanese ginger, seaweed, salmon slices and bits salmon roe, but what surprises me is the crispy ramen used as the base! The taste and crispiness are way better than the usual crackers we have in the conventional yee sang.

Salmon roe lovers like me will be eyeing on them while tossing for prosperity!

The house-made honey lemon sauce used (instead of sweet plum sauce) is very light and refreshing to keep us going for more! The portion shown above is meant for 2 pax, but we can easily share it among 4 of us. Great value for money!

Pork Bun @ RM7

The first appetizer we go for is the signature steamed bun with braised pork. I loved how well the aromatic blend of soft fluffy bun and the sauce's caramelized sweetness enhanced the tender pork's inherent taste. It also comes with spicy grilled chicken, which exudes strong smoky tinge and gives bolder flavours to my liking.

Nikumiso Tofu Salad @ RM15

Apart from the famed buns, another noteworthy appetizer is the silky tofu salad served with IPPUDO's special minced meat miso paste. The fermented soybean paste is surprisingly appetizing and coats the condiments very well. I can easily chow down the whole bowl all by myself!

Crispy Corn @ RM8

For lighter bite, you may try on the smoky flavoured deep-fried young corn with seaweed and paprika seasoning. Crisp and addictive, it is an excellent pick-me-up if you are looking for something tasty and healthy to nibble on.

Chashu Tsukune Teppan @ RM17.90

My biggest applause of the evening goes to this thick piece of minced pork served with fried noodle bits, topped with oozing poached egg on hot plate. Grilled to charred perfection, the pork patty is so soft and burst with juicy goodness upon each bite. Must try!

Akamaru Kakuni @ RM28

As for the ramen, our highlight of the evening is the Kakuni, slow-braised pork belly simmered in dashi, soy sauce, mirin, sugar and sake that is extremely tender and melts perfectly in the mouth. For a taste of the original, we have Akamaru Kakuni which is made of IPPUDO's special tonkotsu broth enhanced with blended miso paste and fragrant garlic oil. Spicy lovers would love the Karaka-men series that boasts special spicy miso.
