Cour De Maison Coffee & Bakery: Famous Cafe in Siem Reap

If you have been following me on Instagram (@ohfishiee), surely you know that I'm an avid cafe hopper. During my recent trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia, I manage to pop by one of the very famous cafes there--- Cour De Maison, a French themed coffee shop.

Although it is located slightly off the main road adjacent to the Siem Reap River, it does not take us too long to find this eatery with the help of Google Maps. This street is a lot quieter and more tranquil than the usual tourists' hot spots.

From the outside, this cafe has a very spacious compound surrounded by trees and white pebble pathways, bringing us closer to the nature. Patrons can choose to dine outside this little house, and enjoy the natural rays and breezy air.

Stepping into this cosy space, I am fascinated by the beautiful decors-- Dark wooden furniture, potted plants, white frames hanging on the wall, with plenty of natural sunlight coming from the open roof section of the cafe.

Although the cafe caters for both small group and large group diners, I notice that majority of the customers usually come alone to spend a quiet afternoon reading while sipping a cup of coffee. Here I can free my mind from any disturbance, and solely indulge in my favourite meal.

Fresh Coconut @ USD $1

Common local drinks such as young coconut water and fresh fruit juices are priced at only one dollar each, whereas the prices of specialty coffee are slightly steeper. For fruit juices, I appreciate the real ingredients they use to create a refreshing and thirst-quenching concoction, without any additional sugary syrup.

Fresh Passion Fruit @ USD $1

Soup Noodle - Chicken @ USD $2

Being one of the staples in Siem Reap, the yellow noodle served in clear broth is great to go as a hearty all-day meal. The locals usually have this for breakfast, reminding me of our similar Chinese habit. The broth itself tastes very light, but the overall bowl is appetizing.

Fresh Fruit Pancake @ USD $2.75

If you are up for something to fill the stomach, I think Cour De Maison does better in executing its Western offerings such as Big Breakfast, Eggs Benedict, Bruschetta and more. For example, my beautifully stacked pancakes are soft and fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness.

A generous helping of fruit toppings and maple syrup leaves a sweeter note to my dessert brunch!

Homemade Passion Fruit Tart @ USD $2

Another must-try item for those who love strong flavour of tartness! Crisp on the edges, the fruit tart is filled with creamy sweet custard that melts perfectly in the mouth with bits of crunchy passion fruit seeds. It is intensely aromatic and heavily sourish.

Verdict:
1. A nice little hideout for a quiet afternoon spent alone or with your friends :)
2. Reason to visit: Tranquil and calming ambiance that keeps my mind relaxed and peaceful.
3. Must try: Homemade Western brunch items and desserts.
