Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant @ Sunway Pyramid

If you are in the mood for a gluttony authentic German meal or a chilling session with German beer, the place to go is Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant. It had been having amazing deal at Living Social--- The signature Brotzeit Pork Platter worth RM325 was sold at only RM198! We thought it was a great deal since the set could serve up to 6 pax, so we decided to give it a try.

Brotzeit at Sunway Pyramid is located right next to the main entrance (Besides Starbucks). Here you can enjoy al fresco dining during windy evenings, or dine inside under the comfortable dimly-lit setting for lunch with a wooden bar counter in it.

For the beer goers, fancy some Paulaner? Here's the way to go!

German Pork Platter (RM325 value)
Schweinshaxn (Roasted pork knuckle) @ RM85
Schweinebraten (Tender pork roast in gravy) @ RM48
Bockwurst (Smoked pork sausages) @ RM34
Nunberger Wurstchen (Grilled pork sausages) @ RM36
Knoblauchwurst (Garlic pork sausages) @ RM36
Bauchspeck "Zigeuner Art" (Gipsy-style pork belly) @ RM48
Leberkase (Pork meat loaf) @ RM38
Sauerkraut (Braised German cabbage)
Kartoffelsalat (Potato salad)

Schweinshaxn (Roasted pork knuckle)

This crispy hind shank of grass fed pork came with knuckle gravy which tasted like an ordinary brown sauce. The German pork knuckle had the right proportion of lean meat and fatty layer that melted perfectly in the mouth. Unfortunately, it didn't taste as German as I'd expect, perhaps it was lacking of some flavours in the marinade.

Bauchspeck "Zigeuner Art" (Gipsy-style pork belly)

The pork belly was scrumptious as you could taste the rich porky goodness with crispy burnt edges. Highly recommended even for ala carte order!

Schweinebraten (Tender pork roast in gravy)

The roasted pork slice was surprisingly tender and juicy to my liking!
Best paired with the house dip for a more robust flavour.

House Specialty Dips

Bockwurst (Smoked pork sausages)
Nunberger Wurstchen (Grilled pork sausages)
Knoblauchwurst (Garlic pork sausages)

Crunchy outside, I could enjoy the real meat in the sausages instead of overprocessed meat. And the flavourful sausages were excellent pairs with the cloudy German beer!

Kartoffelsalat (Potato salad)

For the side dishes, the German potato salad was by far my favourite, because it tasted tangy and light with a dash of vinegar and mustard that tantalized the taste buds. Neither too hard or overboiled, the texture was great too.

Sauerkraut (Braised German cabbage)

Supposedly a signature side dish for German cuisine, the braised German cabbage here was a huge disappointment because it was rather dry and tasted normal. It could be a winning taste if the fermentation was done better for a more sourish flavour.

At the end of the meal, I realised the meatloaf was missing in our platter. By then, it was already too late to make a complaint but I hoped you wouldn't have the same experience as mine if you purchase the same set.

Verdict: Overall, it was a delicious pork platter that could feed 6 persons very well, and definitely a great steal for only RM198! Worth a try for those who enjoy Bavarian cuisine from southeast Germany!
