Tai Thong Chinese New Year 2016 Menu @ Imperial Garden PJ

My early Chinese New Year 2016 celebration with Tai Thong Group (大同饮食集团), the largest chain of Chinese restaurants in town is really awesome as I get to gather with my friends and sample the latest exquisite offerings of traditional Cantonese cuisine specially crafted to usher the auspicious year of Monkey.

Golden Fortune Yee Sang with Assorted Fruits and Nuts (大同鲜果捞生)
RM68.80++ for half portion / RM108.80++ for full portion

Imparting a refreshing twist to the prosperity toss, Tai Thong's fruity yee sang this year features the Monkey King's favourite peach as the main ingredient. The varieties of nuts and dried berries add brownie points to the yee sang for the extra crunchy texture.

I feel so privileged to have our God of Fortune delivering the Yee Sang to our table!

Fortune Seafood Treasure Pot (盆满钵满海鲜煲)
RM298.80++ for 5 pax / RM498.80++ for 10 pax

The ultimate seasonal highlight by Tai Thong is the traditional Chinese Poon Choy loaded with more than 10 types of ingredients reflecting its rich flavours and exquisite taste. Using only seafood and vegetables, this pot is a healthier option for those watching their weights.

Double-Boiled Dried Premium Seafood Soup served in Coconut (椰皇海味汤)

What not to be missed is the nourishing double-boiled soup presented individually in coconut shell which lends a robust aroma of coconut to the clear broth. Love the twist of flavours that make the soup more comforting and palatable!

Baked Dried Oyster Tart (千層香脆蠔皇酥)

Tai Thong has also created some festive dim sum for this Chinese New Year, using ingredients that signify prosperity, good luck, health and wealth. For instance, the baked golden tart is well-stuffed with dried oysters and seafood, creating a delicious combination of buttery pastry and savoury fillings.

Steamed Triple Delight with Oyster Sauce (蠔汁釀三宝)

Steamed dim sum is my personal favourite, especially those loaded with chunky seafood filling such as the seafood rolls drenched in oyster sauce and crystal dumplings. Both are fresh, crunchy and cooked to perfection.

Steamed Fatt Choy Dumpling with Prawns (水晶菠菜虾饺)

Steamed Bamboo Rice with Chinese Waxed Meat (腊味竹筒饭)

But if it is rice that you are craving for, the petite steamed bamboo rice is just nicely portioned for each diner, with generous helping of waxed meat. The rice here is soft and moist, without feeling too starchy on the palate.

Claypot Rice with Chinese Waxed Meat and Edamame (北风腊味煲仔饭)

Next up is something similar, but it is served in claypot, allowing the rice to burst with stronger flavours and form pleasantly crisp bits. Recommended for communal dining, so you can enjoy it with your friends and family.

Chilled Nian Gao with Osmanthus and Sakura (日本樱花水晶年糕)

The sweet surprise comes last. The silky smooth jelly is infused with osmanthus and sakura to bring light floral aroma, before being layered with chilled glutinous rice cake that adds a pleasant chewy texture to it. Beautiful presentation and lovely taste!

The CNY menu is available across all Tai Thong Group of Restaurants including Tai Thong, Royal China, Imperial China, Spring Garden and Oriental Pearl restaurants. For more info, visit:

Review: Gel Manicure at Mojo Nail Cafe @ SS2, Petaling Jaya

What's better than pampering yourself with a manicure and pedicure session while enjoying a cup of coffee and dessert? I think nail cafe concept is pretty interesting, and I am glad to find one in the neighbourhood of SS2.

Mojo Nail Cafe is tucked along the shoplots with many car workshops, slightly further away from the very congested area in SS2. So parking is ample, even during weekday afternoons. Just take the stairs next to The Vape Machine, and you'll arrive at the cosy space where you can totally unwind.

The outlet is divided into two sections-- the nail parlour and the cafe. The cafe serves a good range of western food, desserts and coffee; and the best part is, you can always bring your food over to the nail parlour and enjoy it while doing manicure / pedicure.

If you don't want your boyfriend to feel bored, just let him chill at the cafe with free WiFi and yummy delights, while you enjoy your girly girl time.

Back to the pampering part. Classic pedicure begins with foot soak and massage,
but I give this a skip as I am here for gel manicure only.

Designs are aplenty there, I'd suggest you to choose the existing designs available there,
in order to save time and hassle.

In case if you are wondering, it uses OPI premium gel colors for customers.

The removal process of my previous gel manicure takes quite a while, but I am surprised that
I only spend 2 hours there altogether, which is considered very quick, in my opinion.

Look at the manicurist's nails, it makes me feel so festive already!
Therefore I go for something red and gold (for Chinese New Year sake) with a touch of black.

Simple design, nothing too elaborative, yet it fits the festive season well :)

It matches well with my new plum red hair too :P

Sakae Sushi Chinese New Year Menu 2016 + Prosperity Giveaway

With an iconic green froggie logo sitting in front of the restaurant, I am sure Sakae Sushi is no stranger to you. In fact, this kaiten sushi-concept restaurant has always been a family's favourite Japanese chain restaurant that serves delicious yet affordably-priced fare amidst a casual setting.

Sakae Sushi’s Toss to Prosperity Chinese New Year Celebration dishes.

For this Chinese New Year, Sakae Sushi is back with its all-time favourite Fortune Salmon Yee Sang, a creative version of the traditional yee sang which is jazzed up with Japanese ingredients such as seasoned jellyfish, mekabu seaweed, Japanese cucumber, sesame and more.

Fortune Salmon Yee Sang 新春三文鱼鱼生 @ RM29.98 (2-3pax) / RM56.98 (6-8pax)

Our generous portion of Japanese Yee Sang here comes with 8 thick slices of  fresh air-flown salmon, and then drizzled with the house special citrus-infused sauce. Adding to its unique and appetizing flavours, we also include two more toppings: Salmon Sashimi (RM12.99) and Seasoned Scallop (RM6.99).

Happiness Treasures Combo (6 pax or more) (双喜聚宝配套) @ RM98

Having the Prosperity Toss alone is definitely not enough to satisfy our Japanese cravings, hence we choose a Happiness Treasure Combo that comprises of Money Yee Sang and delectable variety of the popular sushi selection such as Hana Maki, Tamago Sushi, Soft Shell Crab Maki and more.

For over 30 pieces of sushi rolls with a huge platter of Yee Sang, the price is surprisingly affordable and I think it is definitely a great deal for big groups.

Golden Abundance (香脆黄金拼盘) @ RM49.90

To further alleviate the festive mood, Sakae Sushi has crafted this lavish platter of 5 golden offerings (Soft Shell Crab, Mini Ebi Tempura, Itoyoridai Katsu, Fried Hotate and Fried Kani) deep-fried to perfection and served with a spicy tangy mayonnaise. Definitely an auspicious dish that brings fortune and harmony.

  Dragon Roll (海龙卷) @ RM15.99

First timers must try the bestselling crisp tempura prawn maki topped with fresh avocado slices and shrimp roeI am pleasantly surprised that the seafood remains crispy in the roll, and the fresh-tasting sauce is slightly tangy for my liking.

Salmon Cheese Roll (鲑鱼芝士卷) @ RM16.99

Another chef's special creation which I'd recommend is the cheesy salmon roll. I can happily skip the rice, because it is replaced with fresh salmon, crabstick, Japanese omelette and cucumber. Topped with cheese and spicy mayo, each bite is so soft and crunchy that I have to keep going for more!

Salmon Mentaiyaki (明太子鲑鱼) @ RM18.99

But my personal favourite is the Salmon Mentaiyaki where the fish is first grilled till crisp, juicy perfection before being glazed with generous amounts of cheesy cod roe sauce that I just cannot get enough of. Delicious!

Hotate Mentaiyaki (2 pieces) (香烤明太子扇贝) @ RM10.99
Succulent half shell scallops grilled with cod fish roe.

Salmon Kabuto Nabe (鲑鱼火锅) @ RM19.99

If you are craving for something more hearty, this Japanese-style hotpot is just perfect to warm the stomach as you dig into the clear flavourful broth and enjoy the succulent salmon head, assorted mushrooms and vegetables.

Karinto Manjyu and Ice Cream @ RM11.99

As the finale of our Japanese meal, we have a traditional Japanese deep-fried bun filled with sweet red bean paste, and a scoop of green tea ice cream. I especially love the ice cream as it is so dense, creamy and exudes rich aroma of green tea.

The Salmon Yee Sang and special festive platters are available until 22 February 2016,
for both dine-in and takeaways.

Godiva Soft Serve Ice Cream is Here in Nu Sentral & Suria KLCC!

The world-renowned soft serve has finally hit our shores! Godiva's premium soft serve ice cream is now a very much raved dessert in town recently, as it finally arrives at Malaysia after being made available in most of our neighbouring countries.

Priced at RM22.25 each, you will have a choice of Dark Chocolate, Vanilla White Chocolate or Twist Chocolate soft serve ice cream, served in a crispy waffle cones laced with chocolate crunch bits.

Of course, we all know that GODIVA Chocolatier is a global leader in the premium confectionery category, hence the soft serve gains much popularity quickly after it is launched. For the past few weeks, I have seen both Godiva outlets at Nu Sentral and Suria KLCC were flooded by large crowd because of the soft serve.

*eyeing on the slurping good swirls*

*Must Try* Dark Chocolate Soft Serve

Among the 3 signature flavours, my personal favourite goes to the creamy dark chocolate, in which I can really enjoy the strong, authentic chocolaty aroma and creamy texture. The dark chocolate flavour is very strong, but not sweet at all! I reckon this is the most premium chocolate I have tried.

The drizzle of chocolate sauce and crunchy chocolate bits add subtle sweetness to the premium cone.

Twist Chocolate Soft Serve

Combining the Dark Chocolate and Vanilla White Chocolate flavours in one cone, it is slightly sweeter than the former, but equally creamy and delicious. I am sure kids will love this flavour! If you prefer something sweeter, then the Vanilla flavour will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth.

Godiva's All-time Favourite Chocolate Drinks are available too;
Looking forward to try it next time!

At Nu Sentral outlet, there are a few tables for dessert lovers to sit and enjoy the soft serves. The other side of the outlet features a beautiful display of Godiva's exquisite collection of chocolates, best for gifting and personal indulgence.

I have spotted GODIVA’s Limited Edition Chinese New Year Collection in classic red gift boxes,
so beautiful and lively right?

At the counter, there are more chocolates! The marriage of diverse shapes and creative tastes is just perfect.

GODIVA Truffes Collection, the utmost sensation of smoothness and crunchiness.

Let's enjoy the frozen pleasures with Godiva! So head to the KLCC and Nu Sentral outlets for this treat.
