Chinese New Year Lou Sang at Renaissance Hotel Kuala Lumpur: Dynasty Restaurant (满福楼)

Chinese New Year is incomplete without having a satisfying reunion meal with your dearest family and friends. Being one of the few non-Halal Chinese establishments among hotels in KL, Dynasty Restaurant is ready to engulf your senses with Festive Menus that capture the finest flavours of Cantonese cuisine from 18 January to 22 February 2016.

Fruity Fiesta Yee Sang (水晶梨鲜果捞生) @ RM108 nett (Half Portion) / RM198 nett (Full Portion)

Get ready for prosperity toss with a choice of 6 types of Yee Sang--- Fruity Fiesta, Salmon, Salmon and Smoked Salmon, Lobster and Salmon, Mini Abalone and Salmon, and Three Treasure. Loaded with fresh strawberries, honeydew and dragonfruit, the fruity yee sang is pleasantly light and delicious, opening the palate for the next dish. Take-away is available too.

 Fortune Combination Platter (一品大四喜)

A great dish to begin with in a Chinese New Year reunion dinner is the seafood platter, comprising of stir-fried scallops with asparagus, deep-fried prawns in crispy filo pastry, banana seafood roll and money bags filled with chunky seafood.

Among the four, my favourite goes to the banana seafood roll which surprises me with the savoury taste of salted egg yolk and yam, followed by subtle sweetness from the banana and seafood filling.

Ocean Treasure Soup with Crabmeat (蚧肉炖海味汤)

The thick and savoury seafood broth that arrives next is equally satisfying with its generous chunks of crabmeats, dried scallops and mushrooms. It leaves the stomach warm and comfortable before we dig into the next auspicious dish which resembles good fortune and luck.

Sun-dried Oyster, Fatt Choy, Flower Mushrooms and Pork Meat (开心發财好市)

Grilled Prawns with Spicy Sauce and Green Chilli (辣子大鮮虾)

What not to be missed here is aromatic grilled prawns in a pool of sweet and spicy chilli sauce which is good to go with a hot bowl of rice. The braised pork knuckle is equally good if it is meat that you are craving for. Simply juicy, flavourful, and with the tender meat falling off the bone!

Braised Pork Knuckle, Fresh Mushroom and Sea Cucumber (红烧鲜菇海参猪手)

Stir-fried Hong Kong Kai Lan with Wild Mushrooms (姜米松菇港芥竺)

Hong Kong Style Claypot Waxed Meat Rice (腊味煲仔饭) @ RM39 nett per portion (Minimum 2 to order)

Another must-have of the season is the claypot waxed meat rice, a classic Chinese New Year dish, served in individual portion. The smoky and crusted rice is well perfumed by the waxed meat with encapsulated bursts of flavours.

Sweetened Fungus and Mixed Jelly in Soya Bean (雪耳金麻池豆漿)

Finally, the trio desserts-- Chewy sweet potato balls in chilled soy bean soup, fruit tarts and the classic steamed glutinous rice cakes-- arrive on the table. And my personal favourite is no other than the traditional Nian Gao coated with grated coconut. Love the combination of pleasant aroma of brown sugar and chewy texture!

Fortune Pastries (賀年糕点)
