Dodo Dim Sum & Bowls [Halal] @ Subang Parade

Guess what happens when you crave for steaming hot dim sum while your friends are asking you out for a Thai feast instead? Don't worry, now you can enjoy the best of both worlds at Dodo Dim Sum & Bowls!

Located in Subang Parade, Dodo brings us a whole new concept that I personally have not heard of.-- the first multicultural restaurant in Malaysia specialising in handcrafted dim sum and Thai street food including the famous boat noodles. It is my first time having dim sum together with Thai dishes, and I am excited for it!

I am happy to see an interesting mix of Chinese and Thailand cuisine on the menu specially crafted by Sifu Lee and Chef Khun Bun, including steamed and deep-fried dim sum as well as Thai classic boat noodles and desserts. I like the great variety here, and they are all good for sharing.

Steamed Dim Sum

Traditional Homemade Lo Mai Kai (Sticky Rice) @ RM9.00

Spicy Chicken's Feet @ RM9.00

Siew Mai (Dumplings) @ RM9.50

We know that the traditional take of dim sum is to enjoy it as weekend brunch, but now at Dodo, dim sum is available all day long to satisfy your cravings anytime. Ideal for take-outs for students and office workers on-the-go too.

Honey BBQ Chicken Chee Cheong Fun @ RM10.00

Deep Fried Dim Sum

Crispy Mashed Taro Pastry @ RM9.00

Fried Radish Cake "DODO" Style @ RM14.00

My favourite dish among the dim sum varieties is the fried radish cake with loads of crunchy beansprouts. Lovin' the full flavours (aka "wok hei") of the soft radish cubes without being too oily or dry for my liking.

Woh Tip (Pan-fried Dumplings with Shredded Ginger and Vinegar) @ RM9.50

Thai Boat Noodles (Kway Teow Ruea)

Oh the Thai side of the menu, the must-try item is definitely the traditional boat noodles. Here you can choose between beef or chicken, rice noodles of springy noodles for each of the 4 broth base:

Nam Tok (Rich dark beef broth) @ RM2.30
Tom Yum (Hot and sour broth) @ RM2.30
Khao Soi (Spicy coconut curry broth) @ RM2.30
Nam Sai (Intence chicken broth) @ RM2.30

Interesting Facts!
Do you know why are boat noodles served in small bowls? Back in 1940's, merchants selling noodles on the boat have to do everything in their own (from padding boat and serving the noodles to handling money and washing dishes), so the bowls are small for easy handling without worrying about spilling the dishes.
Crispy Chicken Skin @ RM2.20

Additional toppings such as fried wonton skin, crispy chicken skin, fried meatballs are available too.
So crisp and addictive, don't say I didn't warn you! :P

Thai Classics

Khao Klukh Krapi (Fried Rice with Shrimp Paste) @ RM20.00

For those craving for stronger Thai flavours, here are some of the top Thai favourites for you. I personally like the fired rice served with colorful condiments such as chicken, mango, shredded egg etc. Again, it is bursting with flavours!

Crispy Fried Som Tam @ RM14.00

Gai Pad Prik Pao (Chicken Wings marinated with garlic, chilli and basil,
served with Sticky Rice) @ RM18.00

Desserts
Crispy Shanghai Pancake with Lotus Paste @ RM12.00

I am impressed by the completeness of the Thai-Chinese menu. Look at the dessert! This Shanghai pancake, which I usually have only during wedding banquets, can be found here too. So crisp on the outside and creamy sweet inside!

Mango Sticky Rice @ RM10.00

Oh did I forget to mention that this place is full of Insta-worthy decor too? Inside the bright, cheerful and stylish space, the quirky wall art takes the centrestage of the restaurant. Remember to pose and take some pictures here!

Dodo will be having plenty of fun, upcoming contests, events and activities, so keep stalking their Facebook and Instagram pages, and don't miss any special offers from them!
