Ramadhan Buka Puasa @ St Giles, The Gardens Hotel KL

Iftar Buffet feast at the new and revitalized The Spread Restaurant in St Giles The Gardens – Grand Hotel & Residences this year features over 100 dishes of local and international delights during this holy month of Ramadhan.

The highlight of the evening is the Carving Station located outside the restaurant where the whole lamb is roasted to perfection and best paired with mint sauce. Right next to it, we are delighted to see a Grilling Station that prepares grilled seafood, lamb shoulder and chicken on an ala minute basis, exuding beautiful aroma that tempts our palate.

Grilled Items

Barbecue Station: Chicken and Beef Satay

Live action stall for noodles

The hot-from-the-grill items taste extra good with the local dips such as Cencaluk, Sambal Belacan and more

Ekor Asam Pedas, Sambal Udang Petai, Otak-Otak and Lamb Masala

Inside the restaurant, the buffet spread also features a wide selection of hot and spicy local dishes which bring us the authentic Malaysian taste. Cooked with various herbs and spices, each dish is distinctive yet robust in flavours. My personal favourite goes to Otak-otak, the moist and sweet fish cake that melts in the mouth with hints of spiciness.

Sayur Kacang Panjang Masak Cili dan Belacan, Ikan Tenggiri Air Assam Berbawang,
Ayam Kalio, Perut Masak Lemak Cili Api

The sumptuous spread continues with different types of curry, lamb kebab, seafood tom yam, soto ayam, beef bakso noodle, ayam golek and many more as the menu is rotated everyday.

Lemang, Bubur Lambuk, Sup Kambing Berempah and Stir Fried Prawn with Chilli Paste

For a change of flavours, the feast also includes some fresh seafood (Oyster, mussel and tiger prawn) on ice which is not to be missed if you are a seafood lover.

Combining international cuisine on the buffet spread, one can enjoy a wide variety of sushi, sashimi, lasagna, pizza as well as Chinese delights for those who have lower tolerance towards spiciness.

Although we are quite stuffed with loads of good food from the main buffet spread, there is always space left for desserts. Dates, Nyonya kuih, ice kacang and traditional Malay kuih are amongst the local favourites that you should not miss. French pastries, cakes and puddings can also be found in the chiller, best savoured at the cold temperature.

Here you can also customize the Rojak Buah on your own. At the beautifully presented 'fruit truck', it reflects the truly colorful Malaysian fruits such as mangosteen, rambutan, lychee and more.

Overall, it is a pleasant spread with large varieties, great atmosphere and good services.
