It's time to celebrate the holy month of Ramadhan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri at Paradigm Mall! Themed "Seronoknya Raya", SpongeBob SquarePants and his best friend, Patrick Star are making special appearances at Paradigm Mall Petaling Jaya, Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru and gateway@klia2. 

Ramadhan Buka Puasa @ Unique Seafood Restaurant, Citta Mall

During this holy month of Ramadhan, Unique Seafood Restaurant is proud to present a wholesome spread of Buka Puasa seafood food at its newest Citta Mall outlet. From 23 June to 12 July 2015, this house of seafood is all set to tempt us with its feast of local cuisine featuring the freshest seafood in town.

Speaking of fresh seafood, one immediately thinks of the fresh oceanic flavours and juicy goodness. What’s better here is that Unique Seafood has several tanks to rear a wide variety of seafood and serve them fresh from the water!

  

Seafood lovers can rejoice as some of the highlights of the Buka Puasa feast are the flower crabs and tiger prawns cooked in unique styles. The spicy-sweet Unique Style Chilli Flower Crabs are amongst the most sought-after dishes along the spread as the sauce further accentuates the freshness of the white flaky meat and pairs well with the Nasi Briyani, Nasi Tomato and more.

The Fried Tiger Prawns with Salted Egg, on the other hand, are equally notable as each bite yields a perfect crunch with nice salty sweetness. I am sure that one can easily lap up pieces of these succulent huge prawns!

I believe one can never have enough of prawns, therefore the restaurant also serves up Tiger Prawns with Butter Flossy Egg. Highly recommended for those who prefer richer aroma and buttery flavour.

If crustaceans are not your pick, then how about having the popular mussels instead? The Wok-Fried Green Mussels with Chilli Paste are punch-packed with fiery flavours and hints of seafood sweetness, which are sure to tantalize your palate!

Our personal favourite goes to the Ikan Masak Kari Lemak dengan Bendian Sayur as the thick slices of fish are so flaky and juicy on the inside, while retaining a crisp skin on the outside. We are blown by the thick creamy curry that complements well with the seafood without masking its original taste. 

A Ramadhan feast is certainly not complete without having the mini Ketupat with Sambal Tumis as well as various dainty Malay delicacies and appetizers. If you are not a fan of seafood, fret not as the buffet also features local dishes such as Rendang Curry Chicken, Daging Masak Bunga Bawang, traditional Mee Mamak and  more.

Chinese delights such as steamed and fried Dim Sum are also served for those who prefer milder flavours.

Putting a sweet endnote to our feast, we explore the colorful dessert corner. Festive desserts are aplenty, including Malay Kuih-Muih, Bubur Ubi Kayu, Bubur Durian and Sago Gula Melaka, just to name a few. 

We love how the Ramadhan buffet reflects the truly colorful Malaysians by having various local sweets, crowd's favourite Rojak Buah, and a wide assortment of Indian delicacies. 

All in all, it is an excellent value-for-money buffet considering its high quality fresh seafood, generous portion and wide selection of food. If you are planning for large group dining at Unique Seafood, the beautifully decorated, posh banquet hall is ideal for this festive celebration.

Let's hunt for FOOD at 1 Utama Shopping Centre during this Raya!

Inspired by the culinary wonders and tasty delicacies that Hari Raya is synonymous for, 1 Utama has set up a Raya Makan Village at LG Oval Concourse where shoppers can come in the best Raya outfit and take pictures with the charming Penghulu house, retro bicycles, vintage Vespa scooters, wooden benches and traditional decorations amidst bougainvillea flowers and grassy pathways (Yes real grass and soil!).

At the stage, there will be live cooking demos by top Malaysian culinary masters-- Chef Sherson Lian (12 July, 3pm), Chef Zaidah (11 July, 5pm) and host of "Diari Mangkuk Tingkat" Ili (5 July, 3pm)--- who will be whipping up delicious local meals that you can't resist.

I manage to catch Belling ambassador and celebrity Chef Sherson Lian who tempts us with his Ayam Percik dish. He is also a host of Amazing Food Challenge Fun in the Philippines Season 1 & 2 and host of TV3's 5 Rencah 5 Rasa. Thanks Chef for sharing such great tips to create an unique percik dish during this festive season!

Hari Raya Celebration with Sunway Pyramid

Say Hello to Sunway Pyramid’s lovable mascots, Leo and Leona!

In celebration of this Raya, Sunway Pyramid has transformed its Orange Concourse into a nostalgic Raya vision, with the special appearance of the duo every weekend and public holiday from 27 June to 19 July at 2pm and 4pm.

Sunway Pyramid is decorated with various anyaman in its most delicate yet simplest art form, creating a warm, intricate ambiance for this festive season. You can enter the Rumah Tradisional at the Orange Concourse (Remember to remove the shoes ya!) and take as many pictures as you want! 

On top of that, there are exclusive anyaman workshops, Raya activities and exciting redemptions happening now till 26 July. I think it's a great effort to encourage the public to learn weaving a ketupat and expose ourselves to the true Malaysian culture. 

What's more is that you can contribute for a good cause by folding a ketupat! The mall will be donating RM5 for every ketupat made, with proceeds going to National Cancer Society Malaysia’s Children’s Home of Hope.

As part of the festive celebration, we manage to enjoy some traditional dances before the sumptuous buka puasa feast.

Hari Raya Celebration with Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

It's time for celebration again! Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is lit with thousands of lights during this holy season. Celebrating "Sinar Seri Aidilfitri", the centre court of the mall is transformed into a Dazzling Ramadhan Bazaar, offering traditional souvenirs, assorted delights and festive fashion wear.

Pavilion has always been doing its best decoration during all festivals be it Christmas, Chinese New Year or Hari Raya. And I used to have a habit of visiting malls to snap a couple of shots of the glamorous decorations for each occasion.

For instance, the 1 Malaysia Dance Performance features graceful moves and shimmering costumes, reflecting the colours of true Malaysians.
