[BEAUTY] Review: Mamonde Blue Chamomile Soothing Repair Cream

Say Hello to the latest floral-inspired cream with
3-in-1 calming, soothing and moisturising effects!

Following my previous review on one of Mamonde's bestsellers, the Red Energy Recovery Serum, here comes the "new sister of the family" - Blue Chamomile Cream, my emergency relief daily moisturiser!

Mamonde Blue Chamomile Soothing Repair Cream (50ml) @ RM125

Mamonde has always been famous for creating new "skin recipes" using a wide variety of flowers such as honeysuckle, hibiscus, rose, lotus etc. And now it is using blue chamomile flower to create a rich soothing cream to relieve sensitive skin.

How does the Blue Chamomile Cream work?

1) Lock moisture for 72 hours
2) Cool down the skin by -5.7°C
3) Reduce redness by 13.2%

From ultra-fine to 3D, it contains 5 types of hyaluronic acid sizes to relieve internal dryness and fully hydrate the skin. Meanwhile, the blue essential oil extracted from the blue chamomile flower called Azulene helps soothe the skin, reduce redness and strengthen skin barrier.

How To Use:
Step 1: Micro Deep Cleansing Foam
Step 2: Chamomile Pure Toner
Step 4: Blue Chamomile Cream
Step 5: Sun Protection

4 simple steps every day and night, and I'm done! The refreshing, gel cream texture soothes the skin almost instantly upon application. I love how it melts so quickly into the skin without leaving any stickiness or discomfort. Since the cream feels so light, it can be applied multiple layers for that extra soothing effect.

As Mamonde products (which is why I always love them so much!) is famed for its mild floral formula and free from 7 harmful ingredients, it is suitable for troubled (acne-prone) skin or delicate and sensitive skin

 VERDICT

Mamonde Blue Chamomile Cream works wonder as an instantaneous soothing and moisturising remedy. Highly recommended for those with dry skin, redness or sensitivity. It can be used on skin with recent sunburn or small blemishes due to heat too.

Retailing at RM125 (50ml), the Mamonde Blue Chamomile Cream is available at major Watsons store, Watsons Online and other  platforms via Hermo.my and Lazada.com.my.

Since I am a huge fan of Mamonde, please feel free to take a look at my past reviews of Mamonde products here:

3rd Anniversary Desserts @ Upperhouse Kitchen & Dessert Bar, Bangsar

It's been a while since I last explored new dessert creations, but I must admit that the recent dessert experience at Upperhouse Kitchen and Dessert Bar is an eye opener to me. I'm sure Upperhouse is no stranger for those who often go for cafe hopping in the popular Bangsar area.

Conveniently tucked along Jalan Telawi, Upperhouse has its own repertoire of a’la carte offerings which range from the well-loved Western dishes to specialty plated desserts and chocolates.

Upperhouse 3rd Year Anniversary Event
Date: 29 June - 12 July 2020

Event Details:
1. 50% OFF all items during the anniversary period.
2. Pre-order with payment for Anniversary Desserts (Childhood and Angry Chef’s Plate)
to enjoy 50% off this treat

Anniversary Desserts
Childhood @ RM65
Haw Flakes, Ribena Puff, Cotton Candy, Kaya Cream Puff,
Orange Sugar Marshmellow, Vitagen Panna Cotta

First to impress us is the platter of "deconstructed" dessert which is beautifully composed layer by layer (from red to yellow and green) using our childhood favourite ingredients to tell a tale of the good ol' times.

Served on a marble platter, this enormous serving of dessert can easily feed 3-4 pax (or more!). I personally love the tangy flavours from the raspberry sorbet (red) and passion fruit sorbet (yellow), and they go well with the sweet strawberries, savoury cheese cake cubes and childhood cookies.

Angry Chef’s Plate @ RM45
Flex Chocolate Ganache, Praline, Meringue, Raspberry Basil Ice Cream, Gold Leaf, Yogurt Boba

I am not sure how is the second Signature Anniversary Dessert named after an "angry chef", but to me it looks like a romantic creation of love handled with much care.

Taking the centrestage is a "chocolate nest" filled with heart-shaped chocolates which are adorned with gold leaf, and it is surrounded by swirls of raspberry ice cream to give a pop of red in the platter. Perfectly great for lovebirds, especially on a date night! (Well, that's just my personal interpretation of art)

Choco Cigar @ RM10
Dark Chocolate, Popping Candy, Hazelnut Feuillantine, Chocolate Cake, Hay Ice Cream, Coffee Cream

Other desserts on Upperhouse's menu are equally noteworthy, for instance the thick chocolate stick which looks exactly like a real cigar! Don't be deceived by how it looks; it is a huge surprise once you sink the teeth into this choco cigar. The hidden ingredients in the cigar yield a wonderful synchronicity of taste and texture. Enjoy!

Hot Food
Salmon Chips @ RM15
Salmon, Truffle Aioli, Cucumber

Of course, Upperhouse is not just a dessert haven but also offers all-day hot food items. We start with a serving of crisp salmon chips dipped with truffle aioli for communal sharing before we indulge in more savoury offerings in the cafe.

Honey Chicken Kale Salad – RM 25
Kale Salad, Honey Glazed Salad, Cucumber, Capsicum, Garlic Roasted Cherry Tomatoes,
Toasted Walnut, Cranberry, Roasted Sesame Dressing

The salad comes in the nick of time when we need a refreshing kick. Drenched in roasted sesame dressing, the kale salad features a delicious, juicy slab of honey chicken chop which yields perfect sweet-savoury enjoyment on the palate. Every bite is so satisfying and I must say the portion is generous too.

Grilled Chicken Burger @ RM31
Grilled Paprika Chicken, Hash Brown, Onion Jam, Jalapeno, Cheddar, Brioche

What entices all of us with an aromatic whiff from far is the huge grilled chicken burger - I mean, look at the layers of grilled paprika chicken with crisp hash brown, creamy sweet onion jam and cheese, all stacked between the fluffy brioche bun. Definitely a good choice for big eaters.

Garlic Chilli Aglio Olio @ RM18
Red Chilli, Garlic, Parmesan, Cherry Tomato, Capsicum, Rocket Leaves, Sesame Oil

If you prefer something less meaty, the garlic chilli aglio olio would probably suit your palate as it contains crisp greens delights with an added hint of garlicky spiciness. Simple yet extravagantly flavoured, it is an epitome of soul food.

Kombucha Float @ RM15
Passionfruit and Mint Kombucha, Yogurt Mousse, Mango Passionfruit Sorbet

As a finale, the kombucha float appears - a zesty scoop of mango passionfruit sorbet sitting pristinely atop the creamy concoction of yogurt mousse and kombucha. I take a sip of this fermented drink and it tastes perfectly smooth and easy to drink like a smoothie.

If that is not your cup of tea, you can choose from their extensive coffee and juice list where you can pick whatever that suits food (and dessert!) pairing and individual taste.

Verdict:
Upperhouse is a perfect spot for creative desserts and Western-style comfort food. Ideal for small gatherings and parties too.

vivo Malaysia Offers Free Phone Sanitising Service Amid Covid-19

Despite Malaysia has just entered the recovery phase of MCO, Malaysians cannot afford to be complacent as the country could still experience another surge in Covid-19 cases, while government is still enforcing on the practice of social distancing and restrictions of social gathering. In light of that, vivo Malaysia, leading global technology company who constantly care for the communities, is now offering a free phone sanitising service to all vivo users at its concept stores nationwide.

As part of a precaution to curb the spread of Covid-19, vivo Malaysia urges public to clean all high frequency contact surfaces on a daily basis with studies stated Covid-19 is still able to survive on certain surfaces for up to (and maybe even longer than) nine days – and that includes our beloved phone. The good news is that this circumstance can be avoided by disinfecting your electronic device, which has
officially become easier with just a few steps.

Earlier this year, vivo Malaysia showed its utmost sympathy and care to those infected by the virus outbreak and committed to improving the wellbeing of the society, by contributing face masks and hand sanitizers for Malaysians to ensure health and safety.

Review: Getting A Comprehensive Eye-Test Exclusively at MOG Eyewear

Hi! ❤ Surprised to see the four-eyed me? :P

I am a heavy contact lens user, but this is the usual me at home with my spectacles. The last round I got myself a proper eyeglass prescription was already more than 3 years ago, and today I am happy to be here at MOG Eyewear to take an eye test / "eye health checkup" and shop for a new pair of glasses!

Why MOG Eyewear? With so many options available today, I believe that choosing from the most suitable optical shop to the best lenses and frames can be overwhelming. But here at MOG Eyewear, I heard that they provide excellent service in performing detailed eye test using cutting-edge technology for customers (It's absolutely FREE! No forcing to make any purchase).

So let's begin now...

Undergoing the Eye Test

To be honest, I have never been to such a thorough eye check in an optical shop! Some of the tests which are usually available in the hospitals are available at MOG Eyewear too.

For my case, the step-by-step eye test involves:
1. Autorefractor
2. Phoropter / Trial Frame
3. Cover Test / Ocular Muscle Assessment
4. Funduscopic Examination
5. Slit Lamp

Step 1 - Autorefractor:
Begin with the most basic autorefractor, a computer-controlled machine that measures my eye prescription objectively.

Step 2 - Phoropter:
Put on that big, weird glasses and try with different lenses to determine the eye prescription.

Step 3 - Cover Test:
To move the eyes in different directions to examine the functioning of the eye muscles.

 Step 4 - Funduscopic Examination:
The optometrist uses a funduscope to "see" inside the retina of the eye in order to detect
any eye-related tensions / infections / diseases.

It is followed by a detailed explanation on the images taken by the funduscope.
Mine shows a tigroid fundus image which is normal due to my high myopia condition.

Step 5 - Slit Lamp:
Lastly, the optometrist uses this big "microscope" to examine closely the front of the eye and inside
the eye, in order to determine the eye health and help detect any eye disease.

Overall, both my eyes are in good condition. Nevertheless, will try to take a break from facing
the computer / mobile device screen every 20 minutes, so the eyes wouldn't be overstrained.

Choosing the Eyeglasses

Those with serious short-sightedness (Like myself, my power is -7.50 high!) and astigmatism would know the pain of wearing heavy and thick glasses. So I have shortlisted some frames from the French Connection collection that are sturdy enough to support my high myopia yet look stylish enough for everyday wear at home, office, etc.

I guess the French Connection frames have what it takes to reflect the effortless chic aesthetic appearance. For the lenses, it is advisable to get the blue light blocking lenses which can protect the eyes from the harmful rays of the computer / mobile device screens.

With proper care (e.g. always clean your glasses lens and keep properly in a box when not in used), I believe this good pair of glasses from MOG can last me for many years!

Verdict:
Do you know that if all these tests are done at eye specialist centre / hospital, it can easily cost a few hundred ringgit? Therefore, if you are looking for affordable glasses / sunshades / contact lenses coupled with excellent customer service, MOG Eyewear is probably the place you should consider visiting :)

[FOOD] Mozzarellaaa Gourmet Pizza Delivery

It's a Mozzarellaaa feast!

What really excites me in every pizza feast is the variety of toppings sitting on a thin, crisp crust, and I think Mozzarellaaa has nailed it in terms of serving the most diverse and interesting combination of pizza toppings!

If you have not heard of Mozzarellaaa, it all started from the young owner who had a fiery passion for delicious, handmade, gourmet pizza. Now it is running on a cloud kitchen concept, exclusively for deliveries and takeaways from The Barn Wine Bar, i.e. no dine-ins ya.

I love how Mozzarellaaa experiments with different flavour combinations and creates a wide selection of gourmet pizzas including Guinness Pizza, BBQ Pizza, Four Meat Pizza, Braised Pork Belly Pizza, Yin Yang Pizza (Char Siew & Siew Yoke duo), Seafood Sarawak Laksa Pizza and Pork Satay Pizza. Interesting, right?

Of course, pizzas are always perfect for sharing, so are the light bites! They also offer side dishes such as Truffle Garlic Bread, Buffalo Hot Wings and Brandy Buffalo Wings which are good to go with a bottle of beer or a glass of wine!

Signature Cheese Pizza & Truffle Oil @ RM27.00

This is definitely not an ordinary pizza delivery. A drizzle of aromatic truffle oil transforms this simple mozzarella cheese pizza into an umami-filled gourmet delight! The aroma is just irresistibly good and the taste is instantly elevated too.

We also order a bottle of house white wine to pair with the pizza. Simply perfect!

Monkey Business @ RM25.00

For dessert, we are having pizza too! The sweet banana pizza is fun and interesting to dig in - Banana grilled over salted caramel with chunky walnuts, topped with lots of stringy mozzarella. Each bite exudes slight sweetness with strong caramelised flavours.

The contrasting textures of soft melty banana and crunchy walnut bits make it a delicious dessert for sharing.

Verdict:
If you love your pizza in thin, crisp crust with different interesting combinations of toppings, Mozzarellaaa is the right choice to go for. Pairing with alcoholic drinks is definitely a bonus for an ultimate pizza experience.

How to Order:
Mozzarellaaa’s pizza is available for delivery or takeaway from selected The Barn Wine Bar locations such as 1 Mont Kiara, Mid Valley, Citta Mall, Sunway Pyramid, Pavilion KL and Desa Park City.

[REVIEW] June Nails Pampering at Maniqure KL

Guess what's the best time of the month? ❤ It's pampering time!

After being at home for the past 3 months due to MCO and CMCO, finally I get to enjoy some self-pampering time and therefore I am here at Maniqure Nail Salon, KL.

As I have frequented many nail parlours before, Maniqure is probably one of the prettiest nail salons I have been to! As soon as I enter into this first floor outlet at the busy shoplot area in Sri Petaling, KL, I am welcomed by a warm, tiffany blue and white interior which makes me feel like home.

The manicure and pedicure services area is clean and organised, while it exudes a very girly ambiance which puts me at comfort and ease. I like how the lovely interior adds to the experience of relaxing and enjoying "me" time here.

Maniqure offers an extensive range of manicure, pedicure, foot spa, nail care and waxing services. You can refer to the above picture for the list of services and prices, or check out their website HERE for a more detailed list.

For the nail art designs, I am pretty impressed by the wide varieties of designs available. In fact, the experienced and creative manicurist here can help customise any design based on your preference. But it is recommended to check out their online gallery beforehand, so that you can choose your design and get some inspirations before getting your nails done.

You can download Maniqure app on Apple Store or Google Play Store to see the full gallery!

Some of my favourite nail art collections are Marble Stone, Mandarin Oriental, Floral Wedding, Disney Tsum Tsum, Bubble Tea nails etc. They have plenty of sample designs on display too, but trust me, you'll be overwhelmed by choices :P

My manicure session begins with an aromatic glass of Signature Flower Tea and hot towel being served in front of me, and then the rest of the time is spent on nail trimming, buffering, removing dead skin cells and most importantly, nail art designing.

It feels great to spend a couple of hours here while enjoying the session.
Special thanks to the manicurist team for the great effort!

Here’s the end result of my manicure session.

I choose the Ganymede Marble Nails - Jupiter's Moon Manicure from this series,
because I love something dark, mysterious and full of Swarovski diamonds! Pretty eh?

Lovin' the marble design adorned with diamonds and little accessories that perfect the nail!

Verdict:
If you are looking for affordable gel manicure or pedicure coupled with excellent customer service amidst a comfortable ambiance, Maniqure is probably the place you should consider visiting :)

P/S: Do come with an empty stomach because there are so many eateries, cafes, and dessert spots around this area!
