Travel Around the World with TouchDown

With the recent AirAsia flight deals and Matta Fair promotions, I am sure that some of you have made up your mind for your next holiday destination. Me? Definitely looking forward to an overseas trip this year!

Travel essentials are of course important, but one thing not to forget to bring along is
a sim card that I can use in any country I visit

Yes, you hear me right. Now, we no longer need to buy a local sim card in every country we visit because TouchDown is now available for use in over 190 countries around Asia, China, Europe and USA, and 320 networks. In short, it is a "one-card-for-all" communication tool when we are travelling abroad.

Initially I thought an international roaming TouchDown sim card would cost a bomb, but it actually helps us save money overseas. Honestly I am amazed that this seamless callback service can save up to 85% on roaming charges.

In the past, the first thing I do upon arriving at other country's airport, I'd buy a local SIM card for cheaper data connection and domestic calls. But I realise the local operator tariff is equally expensive for international calls. Now, TouchDown comes in handy as we don't need to change the SIM cards when travelling from country to country and the prepaid reload value is retained.

The mechanism? Simple. It works like a normal sim card.
  • The sim card bears a new number that you use overseas.
  • Then, dial an international number from your phone as usual, with the country code (eg: +60)
  • Touchdown picks up your call, connects it to the number you dialed.
  • It calls you back, connecting both ends, providing superior sound quality no matter where you are.
Be it for frequent business or leisure travellers, it keeps you connected with lots of perks in it:

  • Saves up to 85% on roaming charges
  • Special rates developed for Asians travelling in Europe and China
  • Free incoming calls in over 135 countries
  • Free incoming SMS worldwide
  • Prepaid SIM card. No surprises in costs

The best part is, TouchDown provides FREE web based texts and web calls! Plus, currently it offers special call rates from China to Asia @ $0.15 per minute and Europe to Asia @ $0.29 per minute. Totally a good deal for Asian travellers.

Unlike the usual prepaid sim card, TouchDown sim card is valid for 365 days once you have activated it. As you travel, the same exact phone number travels with you- no changing of phone number required. The sim card can be customised to MicroSim or NanoSim sized.

The best deal of TouchDown? No contracts, No Minimum Spending, No Hidden Charges! Since  it is all prepaid, you can track your spending each time as you enjoy the affordable rates in 190 countries and data usage in 100 countries.

Exclusively available online at touchdown.com.my, you can own a TouchDown sim card wherever you are.

Depending on your usage on voice calls and data connection, TouchDown offers two types of packages: TouchDown Classic and TouchDown New to meet the users' needs.

TouchDown Classic: A new plan/package that focuses on Voice plan
but still allow the user to access Data on different rates.

It is available across 60++ countries such as Argentina, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea(South), Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, United Kingdom, Uruguay, USA and Vatican City.

TouchDown New: A new plan/package that focuses on Data plan but
still allow the user to access Voice and Messages on different rates.

You can easily switch a package even before the current one ends.

I love the fact that it is widely available around the globe, with clear rate charges for each package. Personally, I prefer TouchDown New as having data connection is crucial wherever we go, especially when many places do not offer free Wi-Fi service.

The sim pack comes with a standard sized sim card and a mini manual to guide you on how to use TouchDown.

Just register your TouchDown number online, and manage the service online or via USSD commands.
However, you need to configure data and MMS settings when using TouchDown for the first time.

I have gotten a TouchDown sim card for my next trip, how about you? :D
Stay tuned as I'll be announcing something awesome for you guys at this space!

Let's have an enjoyable trip abroad and stay connected without burning a hole in the pocket :)
