Suria Cafe @ The Saujana Kuala Lumpur

After my first visit to Senja Restaurant at Saujana Resort, I realise the Italian fare there is wonderful, so I'm back to this resort this time, sampling their local and Western fusion buffet at Suria Cafe.

Behind the veil of Suria Cafe lies a wide selection of culinary offerings of Western and Local cuisines. Under an informal setting, enjoy the all-day dining in the main dining room, or dine alfresco on the terrace.

#1 Asian Hot Food

The first thing that impresses me is the array of local Muslim food. The staple Nasi Briyani or Basmati Steamed Rice is best matched with Ayam Masak Madu, Daging Rendang and Kari Udang.

#2 Kari Ikan Bawal

But still, my favourite is this pomfret cooked with curry. The thick, juicy pomfret is simple yet good as the curry does not veil the original fresh taste of the pomfret.

#3 Ketam Goreng Berempah

My favourite crab dish is on the buffet menu as well. The fried crab may not be as good as the Chinese-styled one, but its freshness has indeed brought out the juicy flavour of the crab.

#4 Grilled Tomato Soup

Apart from that, I find Suria Cafe offering a wide selection of Western cuisine. Starting with the rich tomato soup, I added some garlic croutons onto it for better taste.

#5 Smoked Chicken Breast

Some smoked lean cuts are satisfying but I'd wish I could have higher tolerance towards the saltiness here.

#6 Smoked Duck Breast

#7 Young Mango and Prawn Salad

This Thai-styled salad reminds me of the one I had at Bangkok Connexion--- the spicy and tongue-torturing one. But this salad at Suria Cafe is mild and tangy, just right to savour my taste.

#8 Seafood Salad with Italian Parsley and Lemon Dressing

#9 Tossed Mushroom Salad with Maitre D Hotel Buttler

#10 Baked Potato Salad

#11 Cold Spanish Omelette with Olive Tapenade

At the first glance, I thought it is some yam cubes. Then I realise the delicious potato omelette is really appetizing when served cold.

#12 Assorted Cakes
Clockwise:
1. Marble Cheese Cake
2. Carrot Cheese Cake
3. Praline Chocolate Cake
4. Chocolate Mousse

When it comes to desserts, I never fail to love all kinds of cheesy ones including the marble cheese cake. Others look so tiny and cutesy, luring me to get some too.

 #13 Assorted Desserts
Clockwise:
1. Hazelnut Coffee Tarts
2. Peach Pies
3. Croquenbouche

After sampling the famous Italian bigne by Chef Giovanni @ Senja Restaurant, just beside this Suria Cafe, I fall in love with it immediately. And I'm glad to find the similar Croquenbouche here. This time around, the chef here uses chocolate coating instead of icy frosting as the topping of the puffy pastry.

#14 Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

Another mouth-watering dessert for me to indulge in includes this bread pudding. The milky vanilla sauce is perfect for such a light and soft dessert.

Verdict:
1. I personally love the Daging Rendang the most, so thick and flavourful it is.
2. Considering this as a good escape within the city, I find the place really tranquil and quiet.
3. The price ranging from RM48++ to RM84++ for the buffet menu is a little above par, considering the common Malaysian dishes there.
