Kaffa Espresso Bar @ Damansara Uptown, PJ

With so many fantastic brunch places located in popular hubs like Bangsar and Hartamas, I'm glad to find this beautiful cafe in this area. Opened its doors since early of the year, this vintage American-themed cafe is exactly what it says to be and it cultivates leisure through espresso.

All you have to do is chill with a group of friends, or just bask in solitude and have a good "me" time.

From the entrance, you'll notice the cafe is divided into 2 dining areas---
A dimly lit closed space with air-conditioning and an al fresco dining area with lots of natural light.

Before entering the cafe, the menu on the chalkboard display is already tempting me lots of good food.
Glancing through the names, I already have something in mind that I must order!

The interior of the cafe has a better ambiance, with perfect lighting and vintage decors on the brick walls.

I personally love the store's layout that allows people to mix and mingle. There is a vintage-styled self-service counter where you can easily place your order, and a chilled cake counter display with huge varieties of daily fresh bakes.

Fresh from the oven: Chocolate Roll, Cranberry and Custard Twist, Apple Strudel, and more...

#1 Ice Mocha @ RM12

Although this charming eatery is famed for the house specialty espresso, it also possesses a vast selection of coffee. For those who prefer milder and less concentrated coffee, there is a long list of slurp-worthy beverages to choose from.

#2 Salted Caramel Macchiato @ RM12.50

I don't know since when my caffeine intolerance is getting higher, so I opted for a healthy blend of espresso, mocha sauce, toffee nut syrup and steamed milk, topped with a drizzle of caramel. It was lightly savory and exuded a rich flavour of sweet caramel. Worth every penny spent for this!

#3 Cappuccino RM10

#4 Mushroom Cappuccino RM12.90

As the interesting name suggests, it was a rich earthy wild mushroom soup served in a coffee mug. The foam layer looked as though it was a cappucino with sprinkles of cocoa powder on it. I was glad that the consistency of the soup was just right, but I'd love it to have richer taste...

#5 Big Bites All Day Long Breakfast Platter RM18.90

First to arrive at the table was the aptly named Big Bites Breakfast Platter, a perfect combination of sausage, scrambled egg, grilled tomato, hash brown, beef bacon, mushroom and toast. Everything tasted great but I particularly enjoyed the juicy mushroom and well-seasoned scrambled egg.

#6 Portobello Mushroom Pasta @ RM20.90

Not a fan or breakfast / brunch menu? Unlike other brunch-centric cafes, Kaffa also serves a wide range of good eats. The pasta here was cooked al dente and generously seasoned with loads of sliced portobello mushroom and chopped veges. However, it was rather dry and bland despite of the colorful combination of ingredients.

#7 Turkey Ham, Brie and Apple Sandwich @ RM16.90

They took quite some time to prepare my sandwich, maybe because of the large Saturday lunch crowd. Since I was in a rush of time, I chose take-away instead. Surprisingly, the toast didn't soften too much or become soggy when I reached home. In fact, it was still warm and crunchy, with the oozing cheese, succulent chicken ham and grilled apple in between the layers. I love the savory sweet apple slices that felt soft and melted in the mouth.

Overall, the food was good but I didn't have much time to slowly enjoy there after an eye styling session with Malaya Optical which is located just a few steps away from this cafe (Eye Styling Experience is blogged HERE). Courtesy to the managing director of Kaffa for a great lunch treat!

A great brunch and coffee place. I'll come back for afternoon tea to indulge in the desserts =)
