Canon Pixma MG7570 Print Your Photos + Giveaway!

Now that it's almost a wrap for 2014! I was cleaning up the files in my computer, and came across tonnes of pictures I took throughout the year. It made me wonder...What do you usually do with old pictures?

1) Create a copy on iCloud, Dropbox or external hard drive then delete them from your computer (Save space)?
2) Or just keep them in the computer (And leave untouched for the rest of the year)?
3) Select nice ones and send to shop for printing?

Well, normally I'd go for Option 3, where each piece would usually cost me 35 cent and I normally develop in bulk, say 200-300 pieces. But now... a big thanks to the early Christmas gift from Canon, I can save a bomb by doing efficient photo printing at home

Yes, photo printing has never been so easy, convenient and cost-effective
until I have the latest Canon PIXMA MG7570 All-in-One Printer!

It comes in 3 colours: Black, White and Orange;
Of course I'd pick Orange because it is totally one-of-its-kind and I love cheerful colours!

Look how many photographs I have printed!

Storage devices can be faulty, virtual files can go corrupted; therefore I always remind myself not to rely solely on them, but to make printouts that can last long. Using this printer, I'm surprised that the print outputs are so vivid and sharp! (although some pictures I print are of low resolution, downloaded from Facebook)

Personally I love printing out photographs and making scrapbooks as gifts to my besties, to remind them how memorable these occasions are throughout the year, and how important they are in my life.

I love buying large and thick photo albums in which I can arrange loads of photographs in it. Whenever I have guests at home, we can spend a whole day laughing over the silly memories while flipping through the albums. Don't you feel closer with your families and friends in that way?

And having instant prints is a must for your parties/events/weddings!

I love Canon PIXMA Printing Solutions App where printing can be done wirelessly, without a computer! With the latest Near Field Communication (NFC) technology (only available for Android users), I can now print my photos by just tapping my phone to the printer. Cool right?

How To Use Canon Pixma MG7570?
My first experience using this premium wireless printer is simply awesome! All I need is to download the Pixma/Maxify Printing Solutions app onto my smart phone, and connect my phone to the printer.

Then choose pictures from the photo gallery, and select the size/type of the paper for printing.

It needs around 21 seconds to print one 4R photograph,
and the whole process takes less than 2 minutes to complete! Super efficient right?

Here's an example of picture I took during the Canon meet-up session, edited using LINE Camera app, and sent for printing immediately! The output is definitely more vivid and crispier than what I see on my mobile screen.

Thanks Canon for such an interactive session! Here's the video of us sharing our thoughts on printing memorable pictures. I guess all of us were too excited on that day and we could barely hear ourselves during the interview! Everyone was busy chatting away in the background and taking photos. Anyway, just increase your speaker's volume, and I hope you enjoy watching!

The best thing is, it comes with 6 single ink tanks for different colors (Unlike the conventional one where red, blue and yellow colours come in a single cartridge), so you can easily replace any of them when it is running low. Each color is also available in XL ink cartridges-- Print more at lower cost!

Since it is an "All-In-One" printer, it has built-in scanning and copying functions, and able to print papers of various sizes such as A4, A5, B5 and Letter. Great for students and businesses to print documents too!

Other features of Canon PIXMA MG7570 include:
- 9600 dpi for crisp and sharp images
- Auto 2-sided print system
- Direct printing from memory card and PictBridge
- Cloud printing / scanning (Email, Google Cloud Print, Facebook, Twitter)
- Wi-Fi Connectivity (AirPrint, smart phones, tablets)
- Scan resolution: 2400 x 4800 dpi
- Intelligent Touch System with 3.5" Intuitive Touch Panel
- Full HD Movie print
- Fun filter effect
- Auto power on / off
- Quiet mode
- Warranty: 1 + 2 years on-site service

Overall, I'm happy with the performance of the printer-- Quick and silent printing, high-quality outputs, multi-functional and cost-effective. Now....do you wish to own one as well?

TIFFANY TAN!

Look what she said...
"Best memories of 2014. My grandfather has passed away on the beginning of Year 2014. While preparing for the funeral, we realise that we do not have much photos of our grandfather. We realise that we have not keep any proper soft copy of those pictures and we hardly have any hard copies of those pictures. That makes a realise that how many great memories through out the year are not properly keep and cherish. Therefore, my mum and I have this resolution that for this year onwards we would try to take as much photos as possible and send it for photo printing. I wish I could win this printer so that I can print out all my previous memories with my grandfather and to use it to create more memories with my only granny that is left. Therefore my best memory of 2014 is my last Chinese New Year with my deceased grandfather and the last picture we have taken together as a family."

Dear Tiffany,
We hope that you can cherish every moment with your family, take more pictures and share with us the photos you print throughout 2015! Congratulations and may you have a great year ahead!

Ngimat Ayu Homestay @ Bario, Sarawak

Courtesy to Borneo Soap, it is an honor for me to be brought to the land where Borneo Soap's native ingredient is sourced. Bario, is the place where it cultivates high-quality, mineral-rich rice for the making of famous Borneo natural handmade organic soap. Following my post on 10 Facts You Need to Know About Bario, now I gonna blog about my story at Ngimat Ayu Homestay.

Speaking of the accommodation in Bario, I'm surprised that there are actually plenty of homestays to choose from. One of Bario's most renowned accommodation is Nyimat Ayu Homestay as it delivers the cleanest, most comfortable environment with ALL meals provided.

Ideally located at the centre of Bario township, this homestay is surrounded by lush greenery with mountains and ancient terraced rice fields, and is home to the rich and complex cultural heritage of the Kelabits.

The spacious wooden house takes me by surprise as it is clean, well-kept and beautifully adorned with family photo frames and vintage decors. For the adventurous visitors, the host even provides different sizes of rubber shoes for the ease of jungle trekking. Tourguide service is available at RM100 per day.

ROOMS
It has 4 guestrooms, some with 2 single beds while others with 1 queen sized bed, which can accommodate up to 3 persons per room. The daily room rental per person ranges from RM80 to RM120, depending on how close you are to the owner :P

Visitors can bring their own books or swap with the existing ones brought by past travellers. With a spacious living area, huge verandah with wooden sofas and private rooms for each guest, there was so much room to frolic in.

Huge verandah with wooden sofas as well as coffee and tea facilities

Also, you can find outdoor benches here to unwind while appreciating the picturesque scenery in the village.

There are 2 washroom cubicles and 2 bath rooms, each divided by wooden wall.
It can be very dark inside, so a torchlight is a must-bring item to Bario.

Small staircase leading down to the village ;)

MORNING
Early in the morning, the place is very misty, and you can feel the breeze right inside the room. The people in this magical highland are mostly senior citizens as their children have moved out of the village. All of them speak Bahasa Kelabit primarily, but some can speak fluent English due to the high frequency of foreign visitors.

The kitchen here is well-maintained, clean and almost free from oil/smoke despite of the traditional practice of charcoal burning. Did I forget to mention the meals provided here are amazing? Nothing fancy, but each is unique and healthy for me to keep my stomach satisfied.

BREAKFAST
Breakfast wise, they serve potato quiche, plain pancake, kuih-muih (Traditional cakes) and
Nuba' Laya, an unique steamed mashed rice wrapped in banana leaf.

The rice is a traditional Kelabit dish that you must try at Bario! Despite of being just plain rice,
it is slightly salty with a touch of Kelabit salt. I wish I can pack some back to KL!

LUNCH
Our first afternoon meal at Bario is a simple lunch with local flavours and loads of pineapple after lunch! The host generously cooks 4 dishes for 4 of us, out of which 3 are vegetarian. Nasi Goreng Arut (Garlic fried rice) takes the centre stage along with lightly ranched Rebung (Bamboo Sprouts), sambal tumis tomato, fried long beans and omelette.

Pineapples here are extra juicy and sweet, without any tanginess that makes your tongue feel uncomfortable. I'm surprised that it goes well with a dip of Kelabit salt. It's great as afternoon snack while chilling by the verandah.

Our lunch on the second day is equally good with loads of vegetables-- Stir fried cucumber with egg, Pak Choy, sunny side up, Sambal Tumis Ikan Bilis (Fresh Chilli with Anchovies), as well as Mata Kucing and papaya for palate cleanser.

Tastewise, they are very mild and healthy in a way as minimum oil is used for cooking. Another thing I notice is, the cutlery and crockery used are so clean and new! It doesn't feel like dining in such a rural area at all.

DINNER
Approaching evening, the sun sets as early as 5.30pm. Before the electricity generator is turned on, the whole village is overwhelmed with darkness and cool breezes.

For dinner, the portion and variety are more generous as the host's family and all the guests at Nyimat Ayu dine together. It's great to meet a couple of people from KL there, and the dinner serves as a great bonding session for all.

The dinner menu for 6 pax includes stir-fried Kulat Liar (Mushroom), Sayur Midin Masak Belacan (Ferns with chilli shrimp paste), Sambal Tumis Tomato, steamed herbal chicken, ranched Pucuk Ubi (Potato shoots), stir-fried brinjal, egg and corn soup, as well as the staple Bario white rice.

Stir-fried Mushroom is my favourite among all! The mushrooms grow naturally just at the compound of the house during rainy nights, and the next day Nenek plucks and makes them into a dish. How I'd wish to be blessed with natural food everyday!

To my surprise, Nyimat Ayu Homestay has its private BBQ fireplace and compound for vegetables and chickens there. This is where we have our dinner, overlooking the beautiful landscape.

As for Saturday night, the host has prepared a lovely barbecued dinner for us. Gathering by the fireplace, we enjoy our BBQ rosemary chicken wing along with other local favourites such as pumpkin with shoots, pineapple curry and kangkung.

I notice they hardly serve fish here because it is expensive to get seafood supply from the outsiders.
Nevertheless, thanks to Aunty Deborah for the amazing meals!

FRIDAY NIGHT
If you're wondering about the nightlife here, there is something interesting going on Friday night!

We head to Takung Cafe, which is 10 minutes walk away, to enjoy the live band performance by the local group. It is a small wooden house that is jam-packed with tourists, serving a great variety of Western cuisine and the beef steak is priced at only RM15!

The local band sings a mix of classic English songs and Malay favourites. Music lovers may become their guest performer and entertain the rest of the crowd. It's an entertaining and relaxing experience of spending my Friday night in such an unique way.

We order some canned beers at RM5 each, and the cafe owner generously serves us a plate of Buah Ice Cream. Well, you probably have not heard about it before! The fruit has a shape of gigantic lady's finger, with pieces of white flesh in it. The flesh is smooth and melts instantly in the mouth with a cooling sensation!

Overall, the Bario discovery trio is an eye-opener for me. I have been to different rural areas but none can beat the warmth and friendliness by the Kelabits. They touch my heart by treating me as part of the family throughout my visit. I love the very laid back and contented lifestyle here too!

Thank you Nenek for the great hospitality!

This cozy little town transported me to a different time for a few days as I soak in the goodness of nature. As I board the twin otter plane, I thought to myself, there's still so much more to do in Bario and I must come back again soon!

Verdict:
If hygiene and comfort are your utmost concerns, then Ngimat Ayu Homestay is one of the best accommodations in Bario. Highly recommended for its comfortable room, clean environment and beautifully verandah overlooking the mountainous landscape of Bario!

Photoshooting at Korean Wooyu Studio, Kelana Jaya

Hello cutie pies!!

Ever since my first fashion shoot for Seventeen Magazine few years ago, I have not stepped into any photo studio until recently I discovered Wooyu, a new Korean-styled studio in town! Here it provides self shooting studio service--- Rent the studio and come with your own camera!

Located next to Paradigm Mall within the blooming business park at Parklane Commercial Hub (Behind Kelana Jaya Medical Centre), Wooyu Studio is far different from other rental studio. Here you can shoot with 10 different backdrops / themes in the studio!

Lighting, flashes, furniture, props and kids' costumes are all available for free.
If you need a photographer, just make a reservation and he will be there to assist you!

Theme 1: Parisian Romance
I made my first visit there with my besties and we owned the studio for 2 whole hours to take crazy alot of pictures together! It is best to book the studio in the morning, because the natural lighting is perfect around 11am!

Romantic or not!!

Meet my bestie  We were actually very excited for the photoshoot and discussed what to wear, and how to pose a night before our visit. The studio turned out to be prettier than I'd thought, and the in-house photographer was very helpful to provide the best lighting and made sure the pictures look great before we continued shooting!

Theme 2: Cute Lounge
Wooyu Studio has lots of cute props like bunnies, cupcakes, little lamb plushies that remind me of the pastel Korean theme! You can bring your baby here for shooting and I'm sure it'd turn out awesome!

3 little girls were acting cute in front of the camera! HAHA

The 1,400 sqft space was entirely occupied by us and the owner (in case we needed any assistance).
Therefore, it is best if you can bring a photographer friend along and pose as crazily as you want.
No awkward moment at all!

Theme 3: Korean Garden

We felt bad for moving their furniture and props around, but the Korean owner was so friendly
and allowed us to do anything we wanted as long as we enjoyed our photoshoot!

Theme 4: Cafe Style
If you're wondering, the hat she was wearing was provided by Wooyu. They even had large varieties of sunglasses, caps, hats and cute mustaches for us to choose from. But...Don't forget to bring along few outfits to match with different themes!

Theme 5: Silent Night

Theme 6: Child's Play
I'm sure kids will go gaga upon entering this heavenly decorated room!
A great spot for family photoshooting, especially with your little one.

Love the colorful curtains, teddy and giraffe there!

Theme 7: Living Room
Look at the Korean 2.5-year-old boy, so cute right! The owner's son has a huge talent in kids modelling!

 Theme 8: Vintage Chamber
I bet anyone would get tired in the midst of photoshooting. But no worries, washroom and drinking water are provided by Wooyu, so feel free to take a rest, touch up on the makeup and relax in this cozy space!

  Theme 9: Mama's Kitchen

 Theme 10: Studio Style
If you prefer a clear studio backdrop, they have white, black and pink background for you to choose from. Highly recommended for professional fashion or product shooting, as well as pre-wedding shooting!

In just 2 hours, we took like 300++ pictures altogether using our camera and iPhones! The photographer even edited our group picture instantly and gave each of us a copy of instant print to bring home as memories ;)

Self shooting is RM160 for 1 hour, or RM290 for 2 hours. Applicable for a group of 4.
If you prefer bringing more friends along, each additional person will be charged RM30.
Camera rentals are subject to charges (depending on which lens you want) but
Professional lighting, props, kids' costume are complimentary.

Overall it was an awesome experience as we enjoyed photoshooting comfortably at our own ease, by having our own photographer and camera to take as many crazy poses as we want! And the good news is....

I'm giving away 20% discount vouchers to 10 lucky readers!
If you're planning for a good photoshoot, just leave a comment together with your email
and I will mail you the 20% voucher! *Voucher valid till 31 October 2014.
