CNY 2019 Garden of Mandarin Oranges in Suria KLCC

Welcome to the Blossoming Garden of Mandarin Oranges in Suria KLCC!

Happy (early) Chinese New Year to you guys! 2019 has been exciting thus far, and now I am more excited to celebrate our traditional festival, Chinese New Year. I know some of you have been busy with spring cleaning and baking cookies at home but don't forget about your CNY shopping!

Suria KLCC is definitely on the must-visit list because its CNY decor has gotten bigger and better this year! At the Esplanade area facing the lake, you'll get to see a 40-ft basket of mandarin oranges replica known as the "Basket of Good Fortune" - yes, so gigantic and worth a picture from every angle!

The Butterfly Project Turns 5: Unicorn Party Edition!

HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY, THE BUTTERFLY PROJECT!

Can't believe time flies so quickly that now we are already celebrating the 5th birthday of our beauty blogger community group! Wait... it has been 5 years already?! I still remember those good ol' days when I joined the workshops., events, review activities with the girls during my university days. They all felt like just yesterday!

Over the past 5 years, life has been constantly changing but I am glad that the friendships don't! It is good to see that the community is growing everyday and I literally meet new faces in every event.

During the party, alot of people asked me the same question: "OMG FISH, where have you been???" I am sorry if you guys haven't seen me for ages. I realise, in every stage of life, priorities change but no doubt blogging remains as my core passion. And I wouldn't forget how The Butterfly Project has been giving me so many opportunities in beauty blogging and also bringing us all together over these years.

Hopefully, in future, I can be more active in this community and spend more time with you babes!

Okay, enough of the cheesy lines. Now, let's focus on the party! The mighty pixies behind Butterfly Project had picked the Unicorn theme for this year's birthday party. And everything turned out to be so dreamy and magical!

In every party, having a dessert table is definitely a must! What's more is the array of unicorn-themed cupcakes, jellybeans, cookies and brownies that make up for the perfect setting of the party. So if you are organizing any party like this, be sure to include popular desserts that people love eating so that they wouldn't go into waste.

But taking the centerstage of the dessert table is no other than our super kawaii Unicorn Cake!
It reminds me of my birthday cake two years ago. How pretty it is.
Awww...now it makes me feel like having a unicorn party for myself too.

The party wouldn't be successful without the support from the community and our most celebrated Mamasan, Tammy! Look at how many cameras were focusing on her during her speech giving time :P I was totally in love with the vibes in Wondermilk Cafe where we sat closely together in this cozy space with streams of conversation and laughter filling the air.

The unicorn party also featured some fun-filled activities which kept us occupied throughout the party. Everyday Flowers’ Flower Bar was set up at a lovely corner of the cafe where we got to choose our favourite flowers and the magical hands would turn them into beautiful bouquets.

Look at the beautiful bouquets! How sweet they were to prepare such thoughtful gift for us to bring home with. I am sure that the Flower Bar will not only enhance the decor in your party, but also seals your guests with a happy smile on the face.

Balloon Activity & Decorations by Brrrloon

Another station we enjoyed our time there was the Malaysia’s first auto-inflate coloring brrrloon.

To be honest, it was my first time seeing such balloon and it seemed pretty fun to play. All we needed to do was to paint the balloon with our favourite colors, then hit the center and shake it so that the balloon would "grow" (Inflate)! How cool is that.

If you are local, you know where to get cool balloons for your party now. Choices include personalized bubble balloon, helium balloons, auto-inflate coloring balloon, balloon-powered toys, balloon sculpture, balloon arches and more.

Also, thank you GNG Studiobooth for the Boomerang Photobox that helps record our magical moments at the party. I love how it can take cool Boomerang shots on the spot and immediately send a digital copy to us. On the other hand, it is unlimited printing for the still pictures so we just take as many shots as we want :P

Besides photo booth, they are also good at creating amazing wedding backdrops, table decorations and tailor-made decor concepts according to the customers’ preference. Hit them up if you need any of these services.

Yeayyy, after the party, each of us walked home with an Unicorn Bag full of goodies from the
generous sponsors for skincare, makeup products, haircare, accessories and collectibles.

02 December, 2016

Blessed November.

Alert: A very personal post ahead.

Blessed November. Yes, the title should explain it all. Didn't realise it's already December when I publish this blog post. The clock in November seems to tick quicker than usual. Perhaps it’s because good time flies? Everyday when I wake up, I can no longer recall which day it is, except for the week before the 13th—I literally countdown silently to this very special day of mine.

People say, you wouldn’t enjoy birthday as much when you grow older. You would treat it as just another normal day because there are more important things to do than celebrating life. So, at this age of 24, I know I must appreciate it as much as I can. Birthday comes every year, but 24th birthday comes only once. Tell that to yourself, and make your every birthday meaningful :)

This year has changed me. A lot. 24 is just a number? Well, to me, it is definitely not. The number, boldly standing in my eyes, tells me that I am big enough to be an adult. To make my own judgement and to live the life I want. To save every penny and splurge on things that are worth. To be strong when I need to and to cry like a baby when I want to.

Pusheen Unicorn Cake with Fish from Tigre Lily Cakes

But I have a weird but true confession to make. Every year when it is almost my birthday (few days before the actual day), I will get very moody and feel like calling off the celebration because the plan always......always does not sound like how I want it to be. Although the actual celebration was definitely different from my ideal one, it was actually a good and memorable one which I wish to record here...so that one day I happen to open this blog archive, I would know 2016's 24th birthday was special and heart-warming.

I always have this dream of celebrating my birthday somewhere away from the city—be it by the seaside or on top of the hill. Birthday vacation has always been in my wishlist, but this year, reality has pulled my feet back to the earth, pulling me away from my dream. And I don’t have any expectations on this very day in particular, because I know the best surprise usually comes when you least expect it.

And yes, indeed it did. No fancy dinner, no luxurious gift, but I feel glad to have what I really want-- Companion. To really let my hair down and enjoy a day that belongs to me with people whom I can trust, care and rely on.

I have gotten a couple of cute gifts, birthday cakes, flowers, pampering etc from the lovely people whom I have been working closely with. It's not easy to become friends from our PR-blogger relationship, and I truly cherish this. And I am glad to have you guys in my life, because it makes my blogging days more meaningful. That's the extra mile that you take which crafts a huge smile on my face.

Homemade tsum tsum doughnuts were pretty impressive and it took me quite some time to decide whether I should eat these cutie pies!

Plus those dinners with close friends which I forgot to take photo -_-" Some long friendships for more than 10 years are something rare, thanks for finding time for me although we are all busy with our own lives.

And special thanks to my dear colleagues who love me so much. It does not matter how long we have met, but what really matters is how close our hearts are. This year, I have learnt to appreciate people around me more, because people come and go in life. What stays in the heart is the series of memories created throughout the journey. I hope we are in each other's heart although we may go our own separate ways in future.

And lastly, a simple homey celebration with the closest family is the happiest moment of the year. Family gatherings are often short and rare, and that makes each moment more valuable and worth cherishing. One day, when I happen to look at this picture, I'd know that my family is the biggest pillar of strength to me. Their every little gesture shows me lots of undivided love which nothing on earth can replace.

May every day is a great day to celebrate God’s wonderful works!

So there went November 2016. A full-week of celebrations, dinners and parties with people who own a substantial placement in my heart. A big thank you just couldn't express my gratitude to you guys.

Now that I'm 24 going to 25 every soon, living a quarter of a century in this world has been an amazing journey. I am still loving what I have been doing, and will not give up on it.

The only thing I pray for, is to have a stronger heart, to protect myself against the painful words from nasty people in life. It is going to be a long journey fighting against mean people everyday, so please allow me to keep positivity flowing in myself. Treat everyone nicely, be humble and radiate happiness to people around me. Because...even the greatest person, if without basic manners, is not great at all.

Keep telling myself it is okay to be upset over some people's attitude, it is okay to cry once in a while, everything is okay but do not allow those negativity let me down. Because what doesn't kill me make me stronger.

Thank you 2016 for teaching me this.
Thank you the year that makes me grow.

Singapore's Famous Cheesecake by Cat & The Fiddle is Now in Malaysia!

Craving for cheesecake? Think about Cat & The Fiddle!

If you are a huge fan of cheese or you know someone who would die for cheesecake, then you gotta see this. Cat & The Fiddle is synonymous to the home of cheesecake because it specialises in various types of baked and non-baked cheesecake, injected with fun, colourful and delicious ingredients imported from around the world.

In fact, it is dubbed as the “Singapore's Best Cheese Cake Delivery” exclusively created by the award-winning chef Daniel Tay and now we are glad that it arrives at Malaysia!

Comes in one size at 7 inches (900g - 1.1kg), all cakes here have no added artificial flavouring and preservatives. Most importantly, they are certified Halal by JAKIM.

Well, you must be wondering what does Cat and The Fiddle have to do with cheese? Named after the English nursery rhyme, the brand is a symbol of joy, fun and togetherness for both young and old. And the illustrations of cute characters can be found on its website, so cheesy right?

*NEW* King Cat of the Mountain (Non-baked Durian Cheesecake)
Whole Cake @ RM139

The cheesiness here is true. They have 6 popular cheesecake flavours to die for. And one of them is specially made of the King of Fruits! How amazing is that. The Musang King cheesecake is truly a winner because of its creamy rich durian cream cheese layered with soft sponges dusted with cocoa powder

Guess what's the best part of it? You can taste the texture of the durian flesh itself!

*NEW* Naughty and Nice (Non-baked Chocolate Cheesecake)
Whole Cake @ RM119

Some people cannot really take the taste of cheese, but I am sure this chocolate cheesecake is acceptable for you. Sitting on a base of fluffy sponge, the thickest layer comes from the rich premium couverture chocolate mousse. Best served chill, just let it melt in the mouth like ice-cream!

The pillows of fluffy sponge topping is sure to win the heart of chocolate lovers,
especially if you love the soft, moist, brownie-like texture.

The Modern Duke’s Pudding (Fully-baked Oreo Cheesecake)
Whole Cake @ RM99

As opposed to the Chocolate Cheesecake, the Crunchy Oreo Cheesecake is meant for cheese fanatics who also want a hint of chocolatey flavour infused into the smooth rich cheese, with an added biting pleasure from the Oreo cookie crumbles.

If you love your cheesecake with a tangy, refreshing twist, then consider adding some fruits so the cake does not feel so "heavy" on the mouth. Strawberry and Mango Cheesecakes are pretty common out there, but Cat & The Fiddle probably has the nicest ones I have ever tried!

The Russian Whiskers (Non-baked Mango Cheesecake)
Whole Cake @ RM99

The mango cheesecake reminds me of mango mousse cake, so creamy soft and smooth, plus extra sweetness coming from the mango puree topping and curl chocolate chips at the side wall. Overall, the aromatic balance of cheese and mango works pretty well here.

Although the taste of cheese is rather mild here, I appreciate the generous filling of fresh mango cubes within the cream cheese layer sitting on the biscuit crust.

Queen of Hearts (Fully-baked Strawberry Cheesecake)
Whole Cake @ RM99

How about a thick layer of natural strawberry and raspberry puree topping your rich, gooey cheescake? Although the texture of the cheese used here is denser (hence, more filling), but it is well-paired with sourish strawberry to exude refreshing tartness which cuts through the cheesy richness.

Over The Moon (Fully-baked Classic New York Cheesecake)
Whole Cake @ RM99

Nothing beats the taste of ol’ classic cheesecake. But be warned, this is for true cheese connoisseurs. Dense and creamy, every spoonful is so luscious, so rich in real savoury cheese with hints of sweetness from the vanilla beans.

Some may find the cream cheese texture a tad overwhelming, but I don’t mind skipping my diet plan once in a while!

Verdict:
A good cheesecake is very subjective; some love it thick and creamy while others love it soft and melt-in-the-mouth. To sum up my experience with Cat & The Fiddle, I'd recommend the following for different preferences:

*Recommended* Classic New York: Extra thick and rich. For true cheese lovers.
*Recommended* Durian: Light like mousse with real durian flesh. For durian die-hard fans.
Chocolate: Ultra rich and smooth chocolate mousse. For chocolate enthusiasts.
Oreo: Same thick cheese base as Classic New York. For cheese and Oreo lovers.
Mango: Lightweight mousse with real mango cubes. Well-loved by mango fans.
Strawberry: Same thick cheese base as Classic New York but tastes more tart.
