Shopping Haul from Queena, the Fashion One-Stop Website

Yay! Just received my shopping haul from Queena.com.my, the fashionable pantyhose, leggings and lingerie specialist under the management of Colorful Zone Trading which has been operating in Ipoh since 20 years ago. Honestly I didn't know about this shop until I visit Queena...

As the products are all imported from Taiwan and China in bulk, I am happy that they come in really good quality with the affordable price tags. That explains why I bought so many items from them :P

Simple Ribbon-Print Pantyhose @ RM 22.90 (Direct link: HERE

To spice up my daily outfit, I got this pair of ribbon-printed pantyhose made in Taiwan. Although black in color, the printed design adds a seductive touch to it. Hence it can easily pair with any long tops or mini dresses.

What I like about it is the thick and highly elastic material that fits a wide range of sizes,
of height 150-170 cm and waist 24-30 inch.

Black Bamboo Charcoal Leggings @ RM 22.90 (Direct link: HERE

For something thicker and more opaque, I choose the Black Leggings in footed design. What makes it different from my usual leggings is its White Bamboo Charcoal Fibre material which has an anti-odour feature, so don't worry about wearing it for long hours!

Durable and extremely stretchable, it fits well for all sizes. Plus, it releases far infrared rays that improve blood circulation. No wonder it feels extra comfortable and soft despite of being body-hugging!

Bamboo Charcoal Socks (3 packs) @ RM36 (Direct link: HERE)

In fact, I'm really impressed with the Bamboo Charcoal Fibre material, hence I got myself the value pack of socks (3 for RM36 only, instead of RM 12.90 per pair) made of the same material from Taiwan.

These socks are unisex and very elastic, so it can fit both men and women’s feet perfectly. I notice that the base of the socks are made of thick quality towel fabric that is able to absorb sweats well and provide extra cushion to the feet, ideal for any sports or daily activities.

Let your feet stay breathable and comfortable always :)

Bamboo Charcoal Bra with Underwire @ RM19.90 (Direct link: HERE)

Guess what, Queena even sells lingerie in bamboo charcoal material. Honestly, it's my first time hearing bout this and the comfy material in timeless design tempts me to get one for myself too.

Similar to the socks, the bra also has moisture absorbent and anti-odour features.
Wait till you try it out yourself, and you'll know why is it every woman's best friend.

Bamboo Charcoal Sun Protection Sleeves (4 pairs) @ RM48 (Direct link: HERE)

And the last apparel I got is this value combo-- 4 pairs of driving gloves in grey, light blue, hot pink and purple. Totally need protection onto my arms, especially when driving during such hot weather. Plus, it feels so soft, lightweight and comfy on the arms. Not hot at all!

Waste to Energy (WtE) Waste Management Technology

Have you heard of Waste to Energy (WtE)? In layman's term, I think all of us can appreciate that it is a form of energy restoration from our daily wastes (garbages), but not many actually understand how does it work.

Where do the solid wastes go?

Earlier on, I have shared something about splitting the everyday waste according to the types: Paper, Glass and Metal, to ease the job of the garbage collectors throughout the handling process. But what happens next? We'll see.....

Traditionally, they will be transported to waste disposal sites which may exude smelly methane gases that pollutes the environment and our country has been facing the issue of landfill shortages for some time, until we finally found a better alternative!

Few years back, Malaysia has finally ventured into a new modern waste treatment technology and built Waste to Energy (WtE) power plants where it generates electricity or heat directly through the burning of solid wastes, and such renewable energy can be used for vehicles and more.

The above diagram shows how a typical WtE plant operates, and I am glad to find such technology in our country for a more sustainable environment in future. At the end of WtE, the amount of final wastes transported to the disposal site can be reduced by up to 85%! Amazing, right?

In fact, this is a proven technology in other countries, and Malaysia is moving towards such effort over the past few years.

I am not sure how a WtE plant looks like in our country (Perhaps I'd have a chance to make a visit there next time!) but such sites are quite common in other countries, including our neighbour Singapore.

For now, we have few WtE Gasification Power Plant, and more will soon be built at:
1. Taman Beringin, Kuala Lumpur.
2. Bukit Payung, Johor.
3. Sungai Udang, Melaka.

So...how can you and I contribute to this? Being part of the nation, our role is easier said than done--- Practise 3R (Reuse, Reduce and Recycle) as much as possible, to achieve the waste reduction rate of 22% by 2020, and with WtE, the government furthers gets rid of the wastes and improves the rate up to 40%.

NOTICE FOR MULTI-STOREY PREMISES:
From 1 September 2015, all households in the relevant states that adapt the Act 672: Akta Pengurusan Sisa Pepejal dan Pembersihan Awam 2007 are required to segregate the wastes according to the following categories:

– Leftovers (Food and kitchen waste, disposable diapers etc) – Dispose into the communal bin; and
– Recyclable solids waste – Wrap with plastic and segregate into Plastic, Paper and Others (Tin, glass, ceramic) bins.

Should the recyclable wastes not being segregated from food and other wastes, the authority will take actions as below:
Warning by SWCorp until 31 Mei 2016;
– Fine is imposed from 1 June 2016 onwards:
                   First offence – RM100.00;
                   Second offence – RM200.00; dan
Third or more offence – RM500.00.

Should such fine not being settled, legal actions will be taken with a maximum fine of RM1000 if found guilty.

Therefore, everyone's effort does matter! Let's work holistically towards a more sustainable, cleaner environment! Wanna know more about Waste to Energy? Visit wte.kpkt.gov.my!

Romantic Getaway Inspiration: My Dream Honeymoon

As we grow older each day, we would eventually come to a point in life when we realize how quickly time goes by, and when is the right time to change our priorities as we move into another stage of life. Well, 2016 must have been a really good year, I have received many good news from my friends who are soon to be brides and bridegrooms.

To me, I always picture a dream wedding for myself, despite of the fact that Mr. Right is still non-existent at this point of time. I believe, no matter how independent or career-driven you are, you'd still have the softer side of yourself that secretly wishes for a perfect wedding with your loved ones.

Looking at my friends who are getting married one after another, I am glad to share some of my personal honeymoon inspirations / pre-wedding photoshoot destinations with them.

If you remember my previous travelogue to Bali, I am totally in love with this beautiful place. If I were given a chance, I would choose to spend my honeymoon at Bali luxury resort somewhere in Jimbaran or Seminyak area to enjoy the beauty of beach and sea with the special one.

Nothing beats the quality time spent together as if there are just the two of you in the entire space. Therefore, getting a beautiful villa or a romantic accommodation there is important, be it a private villa with a spacious pool or a lovely chalet facing the sea.

It needs not necessarily be honeymoon, just treat it as a holiday getaway with your loved ones and perhaps surprise her with a wedding proposal? I'm sure the rate of success would be skyrocket high :P

If you have any tips or recommendation on something related to wedding, feel free to share with us HERE :) Can't wait to check out more inspiring stories from you guys!

Cool Nails: "1 Price, 2 Services" Mother's Day Promotion

Hello! Do you remember my manicure at Cool Nails during Women's Day?

I'm back to this cozy beauty parlour this round to try out its eyelash extension service with my young mommy friend, Carol. The shop is just opposite the famous Fatty Crab Restaurant near Taman Megah wet market.

Since Mother's Day is around the corner, I think it's the best time for all Mommies to take a break and enjoy some pampering "me" time with the girlfriends. Even if you're not a Mom, you can also take this opportunity to enjoy the awesome promotion and pamper yourself at Cool Nails with your sister or girlfriends.

From now till 31 May 2016, Cool Nails is having a special 1 + 1 = 1 promotion!
It means that you just pay 1 price to enjoy 2 services

RM158 includes:
Gel Manicure with selected 48 nail art designs (As shown above)
+ Eyelash Extension
You can utilize both the services for yourself or share with your friend. For example:

Scenario 1: I pay RM158 and make appointment for both services in one trip, by spending 3-4 hours here.
Scenario 2: I buy this package and share with a friend. I can do eyelash extension while she does her gel manicure, or vice versa. So it's only RM79 per person!

At the first glance, I already fall in love with the Mickey Mouse set! So CUTE right!!

So Carol is here for the gel manicure service while I go for eyelash extension. For this promotion, Cool Nails has specially designed lots of gel nail sets that you can choose from. Be it cute or elegant style, surely you can find something you like here!

This is the second set of designs which will be available throughout May 2016.
You can go for these cute designs at the promo price from 1 to 31 May ya :)

Whereas Carol chooses a monotonous set with hand-drawn roses and gold glitters. So detailed and beautiful!!

Here's the end result! :D SO BEAUTIFUL RIGHT!!

Seriously, for less than a hundred bucks, this gel manicure is totally worth the money.
If I were to do it at other places, the cost can easily go more than this.

While Carol is getting her gel manicure done, I am at the beauty treatment room for the eyelash extension.

If you are a first timer in this, you need to know there are several types of extension that come in numerous lengths, thicknesses and curls. They are not for the wash-and-go kind of gal, but they are amazing. Usually it can last 3-4 weeks, depending on how well you take care of it.

The traditional type that I used to put on is the one in the picture above, that comes in "stalks". I personally feel those in stalks are generally harder and heavier, hence can be uncomfortable if you're not used to lashes extension.

But the latest Korean / Japanese type is those shown above, that comes in "piece by piece".

No two designs are the same! At Cool Nails, they will customize the lashes for your needs by combining lashes of different lengths and curls. Whether you want it natural-looking or dramatic, just let the staff know and your needs will be met!

It requires very good skills to attach the false lashes onto the lashline, strand by strand, to create fuller and longer lashes. Despite of that, the skillful staff here can easily complete the process within 1 to 1.5 hour.

At the end of the process, it requires drying using the electronic mini fan, before I can open up my eyes.

My before-and-after photos (above) are not extremely drastic, but that is the look I requested--
Fuller lashes with wings at the corner of the eyes.

Side view: You can see how much it curls :)

Close-up view: Love the "tail" at the corner of the eyes. It is customizable anyway,
you can choose to have longer and curlier lashes in the middle.

Absolutely no mascara is needed for the following month!

Taking a further view, the eyes look more mesmerizing with those lashes on!
But it does not look too obvious or dramatic, totally goes well with the natural no-makeup look.

Overall, for RM158, it is definitely a great deal to get my nails and eyelashes pampered.
Don't forget to bring your Mom, Sis or girl friends to Cool Nails and enjoy a pampering day together!

Review: Japanese Spring Manicure @ Bandar Puteri, Puchong

Hello April! Life has been really hectic for me but luckily I manage to secure a weekend slot at Precious Nail Studio to pamper my nails. No matter how busy our lifestyle is, I always believe that such little pampering "me" time is important to keep our mood up. Personally, doing nails can make me happier than anything else such as shopping and enjoying dessert.

Precious Nail Studio is located inside "De Hair Cutting Edge" Hair Saloon at Bandar Puteri Puchong. Here you can pamper your hair and nails at one go, without having to make several trips there. If you're not familiar with this place, you can look for McDonald's, Starbucks and Speedmart99 as landmarks to guide you towards the shop.

Equipped with various nail polishes from O.P.I. and my favourite Gellyfit gel, this nail parlour offers nail manicure, pedicure and foot soak services. And there are plenty of colors and designs that you can choose from!

Here are some of the samples that the owner has done previously. So pretty right!! But, you can always show her the design that you want, then she will do it accordingly for you :)

My previous set of gel is firstly removed, followed by the removal of dead skin cells,
trimming and nail buffering. Sorry for the gross picture :P

As for myself, it was quite unfortunate to break my nails just a day before my nail appointment T______T You can see how short my middle fingernail is!!

So I do a nail extension on that finger to "balance" the set of nails. The gel extension may not be as strong as acrylic type, but looks equally natural on the finger. People just wouldn't notice it's an extension!

Then my Japanese-style design is done using the sponge technique with special "foil" to create the gold and silver "patches" of pattern on the nails. It's super quick to be completed and the outcome is just perfect!
One thing I notice here is the crazy wide variety of accessories available here!! Like seriously, very few nail parlours actually carry so many types of accessories in various sizes, designs, colors etc.

Even the diamonds here are available in so many different shades!!

Ta-daa!! My gel manicure is completed in just 2 hours time.
It's my first time doing Japanese design in yellow shades.

Total damage:
RM60 Gel Color Base + RM45 Design = RM105
(including removal on your next visit)

 Super affordable right!!
For this design, usually it can easily go up to RM130 at other places
and that hasn't even included the nail extension price!

Thanks Albee for beautifying my nails. You can make your appointment with her at 016-4285462!

Verdict:
1. Overall, Precious Nail Studio offers very competitive price for its services.
2. If you like to have a lot of unique accessories for your nail design, then here's the right place to go.
3. Location wise, it is very easy to find in Bandar Puteri Puchong.
