Baking Workshop x Windchimes In A Bakery @ At 19 Culinary Studio, Bukit Damansara

I was so excited that I couldn't wait to share with you guys bout my first baking class at the famous culinary studio, courtesy to Samsung Malaysia for the lovely invitation!

Windchimes in A Bakery is a heartwarming Korean-inspired local production revolving around the love story about Adam, who has anything but dream, and Sue, who has everything but love. You can watch the episodes on Samsung Malaysia's Youtube Channel

The director of this online drama series is no other than Jang Jae Hyeok, who has been the directors for lots of music videos for Korean popstars including Wondergirls! But I think the best part of it is that the whole story is filmed solely using Samsung Galaxy S4! Kudos to its 13MP camera!

Besides having Sue and Adam as main cast, one of the most important elements in the story
is the Red Bean Bun! A bun that made Sue fell in love with Adam =P

So...our mission of the day was to bake a fresh, fluffy red bean bun by ourselves!

And of course not to miss out the sweet cute couple in the drama: Ahmad Nabil and Koe Yeet!

Before the baking began, I had a quick chat with Koe Yeet. So glad that she still remembered me after 4 years of not seeing each other! We used to chat during tuition classes when we were in Form 4 and 5, and she complimented that I look slimmer now. So happy lol. Kinda miss the good old memories there. How fast time flies =)

Anyway, here's our instructor of the day. Let's begin now!

The ingredient and recipe are displayed on Samsung Galaxy S4.
Simply use the Air Gesture feature to flip to the next page without dirtying the phone!

Ingredients:
4 cups of milk
1 cup of vegetable oil
1 cup of castor sugar
7g of instant dry yeast
8 cups of all purpose flour (plus 1 cup extra)
1 tbsp (heaping) of baking powder
1 tbsp (scant) of baking soda
1 tbsp (heaping) of salt
500g red bean paste

Here's my baking group of the day! Let's see who can bake the best-looking bun...

Step 1:
For the dough, heat the milk, vegetable oil and sugar in a medium saucepan
over medium heat to just below a boil. Then set aside and cool to warm.

Step 2:
Add 8 cups of the flour and yeast. Stir until just combined, then cover with
a clean kitchen towel. Set aside in a relatively warm place for 1 hour.

Awww...so sweet right!

Step 3:
After an hour, remove the towel. Add the baking powder, baking soda, salt and 1 cup of flour,
then stir thoroughly to combine. Rest the dough for 5 minutes before shaping to buns.

Step 4:
On a lightly floured table, divide the dough into 35 rolls and put aside.
Each should weigh 65gram! Flat the rolls and put the red bean paste as fillings.

Spot my bun! My name is upside down there...

Step 5:
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Cover all the buns with a kitchen towel
and set aside for 20 minutes before baking.

Don't forget to add the red bean paste topping. This is how it should look like!

Step 6:
Remove the towel and bake for 15 minutes, until golden brown, not overly brown ya!

While waiting for the buns.... Camwhored with Jane.

And I acted like a pro =P

At the mean time, we had a mini drama session to enjoy 4 episodes out of 8 of Windchimes in A Bakery, in a Full HD resolution. The quality is so good and most of the scenes are crying scenes T__T Definitely a must-watch!

Episode 1: http://bit.ly/13D593r
Episode 4: http://bit.ly/1cln0kS

The feeling of watching the episodes along with the artists in person is really different! It makes the story even more touching, with added touch of fun from the bubbly Koe Yeet who explained the behind-the-scene stories to us!

What's more is the setting of the living hall, with lots of cute props in the drama.
And plenty of red bean buns for us to munch on!

Some yummy bakes to treat our stomach after the workshop.

20 Minutes Later...
Our red bean buns are ready! Some look so good with 8 petals on the flower-shaped buns =)

...while others look lightly browned with plenty of sesame on it. The space was filled with strong aroma of freshly baked buns! Mmmm...smelling so good and I couldn't wait to try my own bakes!

Here's mine! Looks ugly lolol. But forgive me, because this is my first time baking! I'll practise more at home =P

It was a great baking experience indeed! I'm looking forward to the next episodes of Windchimes In A Bakery. Stay tuned at Samsung Malaysia's Youtube Channel (youtube.com/samsungmalaysia)!
