Review: MIVVA Box, Happy January 2014!

My first surprise of the year!! Thank you MIVVA for so much of love,

Something different from the usual black and white polka box, this time the latest MIVVA box is double the usual size! As I unopen the box, the amount of surprises also doubles because there are 4 FULL-SIZED items inside!! Excited or not?

It's an exclusive beauty box by the Japanese Kao Corporation, featuring few beauty brands under one roof including my favourite hair care brand, Liese, and popular beauty brand, Biore

I usually have love-hate relationship with oil-based remover. As much as I love the effectiveness of removing the waterproof mascara, I dislike the stickiness it creates on my skin. But Biore is different!! I swear I fall in love with it after reading Xiaxue's review and her Guide to Life video.

#1 Bioré Makeup Remover Wipes (44 sheets / packet)

This is the highly recommended product by Xiaxue!! And now it comes in newly improved formula- with hyaluronic acid and moisturizing essence, no wonder my skin feels so soft and supple after using it!

The wipes come in a vacuum sealed package inside an airtight container, to maintain the moisture level of the cottony sheet. Maximum level of protection for the Biore wipes!

Let's try it on my waterproof and anti-smudge eye makeup... Wow, the result is amazing! I can remove all traces of makeup around the eye instantly in just..... ONE wipe! To remove stubborn mascara, remember to place the sheet on closed eyes for 5 seconds before wiping off.

Each cotton sheet is sufficient to remove thick makeups (even for your party look!) for the entire face. No joking! For daily basic makeup like mine, I only use half of the cloth to completely remove everything about the face, eye, lips and even neck.

 AMAZING!!!

Despite of being oil-based, it doesn't leave the skin oily, sticky or greasy at all. To my surprise, my skin feels fresh after wiping. Now I know why so many bloggers WOWed about it.

The product is so easy to use, convenient and REFILLABLE
Definitely a must-bring item for travels!

#2 Bioré Mild Cleansing Liquid (230ml)

I know I feel wasted when I didn't utilize the whole sheet of the wipe. For a more economic alternative, it is good to have a bottle of mild cleansing liquid at home, because it is water-based yet able to remove waterproof makeup gently and quickly on the skin. It feels similarly soft and smooth after wiping!

Liese has been so popular over the years, and this brand is no longer a stranger to you. As for myself, I have used so many Liese hair care products from styling milk, hair serum to juicy shower. But the best product I love from them is their bubble hair color!

 #3 Liese Bubble Hair Color

Now... time to have a new hair color for new year? Sometimes I just don't enjoy going for hair dye at saloon, yet end up not satisfied with the result. So let's DIY with Liese Bubble Hair Color! Just mix the solutions, massage your scalp and voila... the final color will be evenly spreaded.

I have blogged about it in October 2010 (more than 3 years back, and the product is still very popular now!). It retails at RM38.80 normal price but I usually wait for promotions at Watsons as the discount can go up to 20%.

#4 Liese Smooth Hair Cocktail (140ml)

The hair cocktail is a Bi-layer detangler that contains Repairing Water and Moisture Milk to hydrate, lock in moisture and coat hair smoothly for easy combing. It's another convenient hydrating hair spray I love bringing for travel because it is tightly capped and doesn't leak easily.

Remember to shake well, and just spray on the tangled portion of the hair and comb it smooth. Did I forget to mention that it smells great like grape juice? Must be delicious for my hair ;)

This is, by far, my favourite MIVVA box ever! Must get one if you haven't!

2014 Will Be Magical

Hello, lovelies! Happy New Year!!! I hope by now you are ready to step into 2014 with a positive mindset and a big smile on the face :) The days will come one after another, so it’s important to have a whole new perceptive in life this year.

What matters is not the end result, but it’s the process. 2013 has treated me pretty well, it was really eventful and fulfilling. Let’s do a quick recap, and see how satisfied I am so far :) You can click on the red, bold phrases to read (if you haven’t!) about the related blogpost.

January
2013 began with a new home, a new environment and a happy occasion in the family. The new house was bigger than the old one which I’ve lived ever since I was born, but the number of members living in it is lesser by 1. Because my one and only sister has gotten married and now has a new family on her own :’) As much as I love quarrelling with her since young, I missed the moments we were sleeping in the same room, all the comfort and cries we had over the past 20 years. 7 years gap between us just made us better sisters!

Nevertheless, we're glad that she has finally found her Mr. Right.
Hopefully I’d be expecting a niece or nephew this year! :D

February
As usual, every February marks the month of my final examination in university. Let's forget about the boring part of exam, and talk about what I did post-exam! Special thanks to Blackmores Malaysia, my entry for "Doing a Good Deed" has granted me a grand prize--- Blackmores hamper worth RM800 + 3 days 2 nights trip to Avillion Port Dickson. I'm such a lazy blogger, I haven't blogged bout this trip since February!!! Will do it this year ya, be patient :)

The trip was a great relaxing trip for me and my parents, as we stayed at the water chalet and enjoyed the beautiful sunrise from the windows of our room. I didn't realize having a slow stroll along the windy beach with Mummy was romantic too! Food adventure began there too: Gigantic curry bun @ Lukut and freshest seafood @ Weng Yin

March
Back to work for March. It was an eventful month with a series of food adventure in town. The fresh sushi and sashimi above was from Ten Japanese Fine Dining, and I indeed had gained 7kg from my gastronomical adventure throughout the year. 2014 resolution: Lose that 7kg away!!
April

Thank you for the overwhelming beauty sponsors and beauty box surprises from Vanity Trove, MIVVA, HiShop, ModBox and Bag of Love!! I feel most grateful for winning a huge Plasmacluster Ion Generator from Philips and Churpchurp + a compact Plasmacluster air care equipment.

May

My blogging journey with Manoah has been smooth and full of surprises. This round I have gotten my first sponsored tickets for live concert by Taiwanese artists. Great rocking experience with Tanya Chua and Ah Yue at Genting!

June
Thanks CHARRIOL, luxury Swiss watchmaker for the sponsored trip to Singapore to attend their press conference (and did lots of personal shopping with the bloggers!) Best thing is that we had a luxurious stay at a hotel in Orchard Road and visited Marina Bay Sands there :)

July
Well, July was all about work (again!). Was shortlisted as Top 10 Laneige K-Beauty blogger finalists. Although I didn't win at the final round, I got a whole set of Laneige skincare products and become a loyal user since then. The Laneige Snow BB Cushion is highly recommended!!!

August
Organized my first beauty blogger review session at Pedas Springs Spa, Genting Highlands. The place was really Zen, and next time when I visit Genting, I'd think of having spa instead of entering the casino HAHAHA.

Thank you Pedas Springs team for the great hospitality, and the girls for coming! And I hope to have more opportunities to organize review events for you guys :)

Was fortunate to have a 3 days 2 nights experience with Honda Hybrid! And I even drove it to Malacca!! I was not used to driving big cars (mine is Kelisa at home lol), but woohoo, the feeling was really good. I have always loved food hunting in this heritage city, and the journey was so smooth with this car.

September
I haven't had a haircut since January!! As much as I love my waist-length hair, it had given me lots of hassle (Wash, blow, dry, split-ends, unhealthy waves), and I decided to chop it off! But now I wish it comes back to me. New year resolution: Have waist-length hair again!

It was trimester break again, and this time I went to Kukup Island and Johor Premium Outlet at Johor, and Resorts World Sentosa and Universal Studio at Singapore. I realised I haven't blogged about any of these!!! Laziness level 895270341 -_-" New year resolution: Finish up all the backlogs!

October
Welcome my brandnew logic fuzzy rice cooker, saloon hair curler, ceramic straightener and easy hair dryer from Philips Malaysia! Thanks The Butterfly Project for having me in the Philips Meaningful Innovation project :)

Thank you Edufly, I had my first 1-day air stewardess experience with Jane Chuckei! It was not easy being a flight attendant, hahaha I still prefer being a passenger and enjoy the services and in-flight food!

November
November is the most exciting month ever because it was my birthday!!
Thank you Aloft KL Sentral for the sponsored 3 days 2 nights stay :) I miss the rooftop pool!

My second sponsored hotel stay of the month at the famous boutique hotel, Casa Del Rio Melaka. I have blogged about their fine dining by the river with delectable wine, and Nyonya lunch for a relaxing Saturday. The hotel review will be up real soon!

December
As December approached, we were all excited because Christmas was around the corner and it was the perfect time for shopping! Santa was generous to reward me the latest Furby BOOM, a noisy furkid from Furby Malaysia. Naughty but adorable!! ♥

Although I didn't get to celebrate Christmas because of exams (T_T), I was glad that Christmas present didn't stop coming! :D Let me present to you my best friend from Akiyo Jewellery. The only regret here was, I returned to buy a rose gold ring, but it was already out of stock at all outlets *heart broken*

Finally, 2013 came to an end, and I had the most memorable New Year's Eve ever!

The crowd was mad, although I arrived at KLCC park around 8pm, people had already started camping there! Thanks to the PR person, I felt very privileged to be one of the media of the day, being ushered into a gated area and seated right in front of KLCC Lake Symphony Fountain to enjoy Malaysia's longest fireworks show with water screen display

MAGICAL MOMENT AT KLCC!

2013 has been really awesome, and I hope 2014 will be even better with more surprises and magical moments Out of all the things I own today, I know it doesn't only belong to me, but belong to all of us! Because you have been supportive to www.ohfishiee.com that brings me so many opportunities and great things in life :)

Being a blogger really meant alot to me, and I'm truly thankful. The best gift is the friendship we made through the blogosphere and social media. If you see me in future events, remember to say Hi and take picture with me ^_^ I'll always remember you!

Lastly, all I need to say today is....
 THANK YOU!!!

Chinese New Year Menu at Luk Yu Tea House, Starhill Gallery

Welcome to Year 2014! How was your new year eve celebration? As for me, I'm already looking forward for the arrival of Chinese New Year, do you guys realise it's just end of this month?

Many have started hunting for the best CNY feast deals around restaurants, hotels and malls. If you're looking for Cantonese offerings, surely you shouldn't miss this post! Famed as one of the best dim sum places in town, Luk Yu Tea House introduces a special Chinese New Year menu which will be available from 18 January to 14 February 2014

Let's usher the year of horse with Luk Yu's prosperity menu!

Located at the feast floor of Starhill Gallery, KL, Luk Yu replicates a traditional Chinese teahouse back to the good old days in Hong Kong. Once you're inside, you will find that much of the wooden furniture, lighting, pictures and decorations are exclusively designed for Luk Yu which blends well and lend a charm to its ancient theme.

Here you can dine indoors to watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen or al fresco at the mezzanine to enjoy your meal in the open concourse of Starhill Gallery.

#1 Lily Jasmine Flower Tea @ RM32 per teapot

Arriving at the tea house, first to greet us warmly was of course the house signature tea! As I glanced through the menu, there were pretty wide varieties of dim sum to nibble on while sipping the light, mind-relaxing tea.

Luk Yu also serves other premium teas which include Silver Needle Jasmine, Yuan Nien Pu Erh, Dry Rose Flowers and the Aged Pu Erh King, just to name a few which are equally good and popular among tea enthusiasts.

#2 凤凰报喜 (特色烧鉫乳鸽)
Aromatic Roasted Crispy Pigeon served with Crackers @ RM58++

Unlike many Chinese New Year menu, we skipped the prosperity Yee Sang, but it will be available in the house during this festive season. Definitely a favourite, the roasted crispy pigeon was delicately prepared to maintain the juiciness within the lean meats.

The meat on its own was tender and moist, and the garlic marinade with 2 types of Chinese wines and spices was well-absorbed into it delightfully, without masking the natural flavour of the succulent meat.

#3 龙马精神 (印尼老虎虾)
Stir-fried Tiger Prawn with Lemongrass and Curry Leaf @ RM48++

Seafood items just couldn't go wrong at Luk Yu, because they use premium quality fresh ingredients especially for the dim sum. Served on a bed of lady fingers and eggplant, our platter of spicy tiger prawns were bathed in the extra creamy curry gravy that is sweet and robust for my liking!

#4 袋袋平安 (海鲜百宝袋)
Seafood Treasure Stuffed in Beancurd Skin @ RM38++

Next up was a dish symbolizing great health and wealth. Digging into the "treasure" stuffed in the beancurd skin, we found huge chunks of Shimeji mushroom, prawn and scallop that beautifully retained the freshness and crunchiness in the mouth.

#5 花开富贵 (上汤豆腐花)
Chinese Beansure with Assorted Mushroom in Superior Soup @ RM28++

No Chinese meal is complete without a bowlful of hearty soup. Refreshingly light and soulfully hearty, the mushrooms gave the clear soup an interesting flavour and distinctive character on its own.

#6 好市年年 (蚝士发菜焖西兰花)
Braised Dried Oyster and Chinese Mushroom served with Broccoli @ RM48++

Closer to tradition, we had the staple dish of mushroom, oyster and vegetables. Crowned with black moss, the large premium Korean oyster definitely stole the show because of its size and soft-crunchy texture!

If you're craving for dim sum, Luk Yu has the largest scallop dumplings I've ever sampled!
Stay tuned for my next update about my dim sum feast at Luk Yu =)

Thank you the Head Chef, Chai Chee Loong for the wonderful festive dishes!

Chinese New Year Promotion starts from 18 January 2014 to 14 February 2014.
